Incubator construction

My FOAF was rebuilding his incubator and I thought I would post some pics of the process.

Just an old cabnet in his garage

A piece of MDF was cut to size and drilled to allow heat to rise into the upper chamber from below.

An "Inline Thermostat"(the kind used for electric baseboard heat) was wired up using 2 extention cords(slaps self on the forehead as he realizes just now that he could have just used one extention cord cut at the middle instead two cut at the ends).

Insulating foam that was lying around was used to line both the upper and lower chambers and the thermostat and heat source(work light with 40 watt bulb) were installed.


He said that this setup has been used successfully to maintain 82 degrees in the upper chamber despite ambiant air temps in the teens.
