SAFE ADDRESSES
Not only are they a REALLY good idea, they are necessary in the barter system so that if (when, actually, cuz it WILL happen eventually) something becomes compromised in transit, it does not mean a ride under the bubblegum lights or worse.
So...The topic is suggestions for acquiring a good, truely safe address, and any method specifically intended to keep shippers and especially receivers from harm.
I would like suggestions of both what works, and what has failed. WE ALL COULD BENEFIT FROM INCREASED PERSONAL SAFETY! This is a brainstorming effort, so please be kind to posters of impractical or insane ideas. We can weed nicely. :D
Let's start with a suggestion I heard in another thread:
Pay a bum to get you a post office box NOT attached to your home address.
edit...made readable with black background

the mail goes to a firm/service's address first,
is re-mailed unopened by them [placed inside larger pkg.]
to a specified address
known only to the re-mailer.
there are several on the 'net,
many outside usa jurisdiction.
a small fee per piece of mail is usually required

DEI has a good point about using a friends house where it is safe.
I'm thinking a safe way would be if you know someone whom you trust that has a business or business address you could use. That way they can say they get the wrong mail sent to them all the time or something. Just throwing out ideas.
