just thought I'd share.
to dunk a half pint cake, I just set the cake in its jar, lid up, and throw 2-3 ice cubes on top(top of the cake in the jar with lid over and screwed on). they melt after awhile and I throw a couple more on. I do this whenever throughout the day since I have schooling and what not. then I drain it and it is pretty nicely hydrated. it stays cool so contams aren't a big deal. I share fridge space and don't want questions to deal with so this is kinda nice.
