Straw Log 1 Week After Bleach Dunk

This log was close to getting buried.
The smell of bacteria is completely gone.
New growth all over the place.
One fruitbody is slowly growing; Should I get rid of it?
It looks like it wants to pin all around, especially on the ends.
If picking that fruitbody is the only way to let more pins develop;
Consider it done.
I'm not touching anything until you guys look at it.
Sorry the picture sucks.
The focusing system in this camera isn't working properly...
But you can get the idea.
Temp. 75F @ 90%RH
It can get as low as 68F at night, but never for very long and not often.
Humidification and air exchange for 15 minutes every 2 hours. (coolmist)
The lid is open an inch or two on the end of the tub opposite the end of the humidifier's output.

It was not birthed before pins.why did you birth it before pins?
There was only one pin that was larger than than 2-3mm.
The rest of the pins were ~1mm
It was birthed because all of the pins stopped growing.
As I suspected, it had bacterial contamination.
Now, after two bleach dunks, the smell of bacteria is completely gone.
And there is much new mycelial growth; Strands are beginning to twist together.
But there is only one fruitbody.
And that sucks...
But like I said, it almost got buried.
Now it's growing :)

There's tons of new fuzzy mycelial growth all over the thing.
Looks like it's very close to forming new pins.
I'm hoping that it's just recovering from the two bleach dunks, taking it easy for a bit.
Sho, how long of a dunk did foaf do?
The single fruitbody is growing very slowly and has a brown-ish stem.
Doesn't look right.
Peace

i'd say it's still in recovery but looks decent,
if possible i'd move it outside for some fresh air
even some sunlight to finish off any possible trich.
otherwise exercise patience...

Shall I exercise patience in picking the lone, funky-looking fruitbody?
I just don't like the looks of it there...
But I'll leave it alone if I must.
Thanks old man,

I'm quite curious about what's going on inside too.
There's tons of new fuzzy mycelial growth all over the thing.

Foaf dunked for about 3 hours or so. He weighted it down with a brick so it absorbed water, he then let it drain for a bit before putting it back in the rubbermaid it was growing in.
He buried it last fall, check this spring and think he saw myc still alive, so he is waiting to see if anything pops up.

ok, i'll take the bait.

I'm with you on the sunlight.
Started using it to my advantage when I lived in Trich House.
Just to clarify...
Is taking the log outside is purely a matter of fresh air?
I assume the answer is yes because that's what you already told me.
I just want to make sure that you are referring to sunlight as a separate topic entirely.
In my 'hood, it would probably be best for me to take the log outside when it's dark.
It would also probably be in my best interest to give it sunlight via window.
I'm an idiot....
I'm going to put my log in front of my open, sunny window right now.
Just thought I would share my brain fart with everyone.

:DUpdate with New Pics:D
The Little Straw Log that Could
It's been about 2 weeks since the bleach dunks.
I picked the big one from the other side because it stopped growing; I began to worry about it rotting.
- This log was toast...
- Smelled like bacteria soon after birthing.
- Bleach dunks saved it's life... Thank you Hippie!
Thank you, everyone, for getting me through this.
It had become a personal mission.

Every time I try to upload I get an alert telling me that, "The document contains no data" after I stare at that friggin hour-glass for a few minutes.
Here we go again...
