I still recommend getting one flush from a straw log, then pitching it out and starting another. Straw is cheap. I suppose I should add, imho.

I'm in total agreement.
This is just a side project.
I merely wanted to see if I could make it fruit.
Didn't expect anything other than a learning experience, but I got a bonus.
I've been keeping busy...
Getting better at logs, trying some more laundry baskets, experimenting...
I'm just beginning to experiment with composted horse manure.
I recently procured a nice spot on a good friend's land for a compost pile. :)
How do you think a log would perform with around 25% compost?
Peace,
AS

it's not all about maximum efficiency
at least not in my world.
the joy of winning the challenge
is more than enough by itself
to justify the effort.

I wonder how many new logs you could have grown out while you were trying to save that one?

and i recommend dunking it for more flushes
because while straw may be cheap
time is not.
and i recommended using bleach to save this log.
which worked nicely, i might add.
to each

I just want to make sure that you are referring to sunlight as a separate topic entirely.

Seriously...
Every time I try to upload I get an alert telling me that, "The document contains no data" after I stare at that friggin hour-glass for a few minutes.
Here we go again...
did you ever figure this out ?

I was planning on 12, but wound up dunking for 15 hours using your recipe.
It was (still) contaminated when I dunked.
That's why I dunked for so long.
The smell was hard to miss.
It's back in the terrarium just chillin.
I left it out for a few days to drain and breathe (on a plant stand in my bedroom)
And wouldn't you know it...
New mycelial growth.
If this thing flushes again I'll be happy as a pig in shit.
The wet weight of the first flush 4 hours after harvest was just a gram or two shy of 10 oz. Well over 10 oz. including the caps I printed.
I'm going to try to upload my harvest pics again after I post this message.
It's still messin' with me...
Peace,
AS

This flush was a much needed pick-me-up after a long battle with contamination.
This is actually the first time that I've successfully fruited from straw...
I will forever love bleach.
Thanks again everyone, for all the kind words and support.
And Hippie...
Well...
You da man!!!
Forever Grateful,
AS
