looks great but i have a question and i may be stupid but i need to be sure, how are the plants suppose to sit in the bottles?

Put the plants in r/w cubes and surround it with hydroton

This system works very well.

I built three, eight plant rigs similar to this one a few years ago, I used quart sized yoghurt (I like yoghurt) containers (with lots of holes drilled in them) as they fit inside the soda bottles perfectly.

haha the intern from my 10th grade shop class taught us how to make one of these to grow "tomatoes"

And after looking at that kind of system, it seems it would be a Pain in the butt adding and changing the water, It would be easier if you used a 50 gallon drum to refil the tub.

IMo, looks like there would be problems with roots growing into the pvc tubes and clogging them.

That is why I used the youghurt containers, I just pulled em up and trimmed the roots when necessary. I also had screen in the bottoms of the pop bottles (on top of hardware mesh) to help keep roots out.
