this is only based on what ive read, i have zero hands on experience. but to answer your questions, use an equal amount of poo and straw (equal volume) to completely fill up the basket. you'll have to figure out how much that is since i dont know what size your basket is.

more quarts of spawn will simply make your substrate (the poo and straw) colonize faster. this will help you reduce the chance of contams since the myc will have a bigger head start against the contaminant spores.

dont know about the additives.

instead of looking for a heavy fruiting strain, a more efficient way to get large yields would be to make an isolate of the brazilians (or whatever) you are growing. Find a shroom you grew that is a perfect example of what youd like all your shrooms to look like (big, thick stem, form a cluster for a good pinset) and then follow one of the cloning teks on here.

some heavy fruiting strains (supposedly) are Orissa India and Koh Samui Super Strain. But like i said, the difference between strains will be minimal (and possibly not there at all) compared to the difference between isolates.

somebody who has more experience then me (see: almost anyone on this board) might want to back me up on this stuff though.
