a couple questions:

what kind of lights did you use in each growth stage?
Did you do anything else that would deviate from
a "standard" grow, other than LST and lots of trimming?

thanks a lot for any information.

Thanks for the kind words gang, love showin these fine budz
Next time I promise to not use so many big images and leave the thumbnails for you to open at your leisure.
Just wanted it to be easy to see the progression of the plant in one window. :teeth:

The starter cabinet has a bunch of CFLs and once it went into the flower cab it's hit with only a 400 HPS

Nope, trim, train, and pinch the tops until it starts to flower. After it flowers just fans leaves are removed as they become bigger than about 2" across. Once it's starts to sugar up it is left pretty much alone. It's more the pinching of the tops that give such a nice bush than the removal of fan leaves. The fan leaf removal helps to make the nugs denser since the plant puts more energy producing flowers than large leaves and the canopy is opened up allowing more light penetration..

what exactly do you mean by pinch the tops. Physically pinching the tops together?

If you look at the second pic from the top, it shows the after of pinching the top. The fan leaves are left and the little bit sticking up between them is snipped or pinched with the fingers causing 2 shoots to come from that point once it heals. WHile it is healing it grows in the other spots on the plant. The side shoots are also pinched when they are of proper size.
.
It should also be noted for those interested that this was a Flood & Drain Hydro grow. Flood 4 min every3 hours, H2O kept at 72 deg, Ph 5.5 to 6.7, General Hydro Nutes and a little bit of Floralicious (Which smell just like fish emulsion to me . . .) . The reservoir had 2 air stones which went on every time the pumps did to add a little more air the the Nutes. The system was also setup up with a back up flood design in case of a pump failure. The standard pump set up along with a diversion in the drain line which pumps back into the top tub for 5 min every 6 hours. Just in case. My Danish friend tells me that the next generation of the cabinet will also sport a 2 X 4 T5 High Output to help fill in the lower branches and to act as a fail safe in case of bulb failure :headbang:

i'd like to see an lst grow employing radical pruning. (no topping / pinching, keep the stem tied down)

This tek was developed to use in a closet hydro setting where space, lumens, and air flow are at a premium and the hydro causes the plant to grow somewhat faster than soil. So in a soil setting, in a larger room, the pruning/pinching of the tops is still applicable but the fan leaf removal does not need to be as extreme.

It has come to my attention that in concocting this thread, 2 grows were combined to illustrate the point. Since there were no images from the beginning of the grow a different grow was used for that phase stating the start was from seed. That was not the case, it was started from a female clone. This could become an issue when stressing plants of unknown sex from seed as it may force more to go male . . .

What was your bud weight 128 grams?
how much time was that total?
You could get better results by not pruning, in a shorter period of time.

Anyway, its always nice to see others passionate about growing, nice work!
check out my grow when you get chance.

I beg to differ. The one plant that was trimmed, produced close to 4 ozs of bud while the identical strain grown next to it (un-pruned) produced less than 1 oz. Most of the people here growing in small closets rarely get a 4 oz yield per plant.
Once again I must stress the fan leaf removal was imperative to this tek in a SMALL closet environment. The fan leaf removal will be debatable forever. My collective prefers it in these situations it has reduced the mold problems completely and as an added benefit it seems to slow spread of mites since they have less long term area to settle in..
Top pruning and bending is undeniably the way to make bushes.
As far as time goes, the longer you veg, the bigger the plant. Flowering times are flower times, can't change them. It was veged for 6 weeks and flowered for 9-13. Variable harvest times.
We are more interested in producing buds not leaves.
