well since this is my first time, i am keeping my fingers crossed.i put a few jars into the fishtank yesterday. they are mostly hillbillies and 2 b+ cakes, dec'ed with coir/verm. i let the tank run for a day and it looks like the temps (70-75)and humidity are on. well i am guessing about the humidity, but it looks to be very high.

Get a hygrometer/thermometer. With mushies you really need to keep temps and RH constant IMO. Keep misting and wet perlite to get those cakes to 100% RH. They look awesome. Love the plants in the backround. Very nice!:bow::bow:

Awesome!! Can't wait to see these fruiting! :offtopic: But can you raise that light at all for your beauts in the back? It looks like they are getting burnt to hell. They will treat you better if you treat them better:loveeyes:.

i was hoping the dec and misting would be enough for humidity. i know i should have a meter, will look for one soon. i know walmart or whatever could have perlite but gardening things are pretty rare around here this time of the yr. the temps should stay above 70 but that room gets chilly when the light goes off and at night. we are at 0 today and hopefully the temps are fine, says 70 on the tank. btw it doesnt look real humid in the pics because i had the top off to put the cakes in there. there is much more moisture in there right now.

the plants arent getting burnt at all, i have burnt some tips before and know what they look like. i can keep my hand under there without it getting hot. the leaf coloring and health isnt the best because they are getting close to being done, if that is what you were talking about.

thanks for checking it out. :)

If nothing else. you can order perlite from a sponsor. Just about any garden center or even Wal-Mart would carry it, though. It seems you will need a little more than what you have in your setup, as you want extremely high humidity--the sides of the fruiting chamber should be dripping. In a worst-case scenario, you can put the cakes in jars and grow invitro. Good luck.

you can just mist heavier than normal when you do mist if you don't to get the perlite this time... keep an eye on the moisture content of the DEC's.. they look nice and thick.. thats good.. if they start to get dry.. go ahead and mist them a little.. no need to over do it.. you should add water to the casing layer slowly over time so the cake has time to absorb it at a pace that it can handle without letting contams set in. you can put a small cap full of bleach per gallon for your mist water if you want.. I do and don't find it to be harmful to the fruits.. just use plain water when you water the casing layer if you're worried about it. good luck.. looks good. :)

thanks for the advice. they are good so far. misting about 3-4 times daily with little air exchange untill pins(i think) i did mist with peroxide for the first couple of days since there was 1 wierd cake from the jar. i ended up tossing it the first night just because i didnt want to risk the others. i hope i am doing this right.

you look like you're doing it right... I'd say about two airing's out a day until a good amount of pins show up, then bump that up to at least three airings and you should be good... just keep an eye on the water content.. as that's important to the utmost. :) just remember, more water = more air. need to dance on the balance point.

well nothing in particular to report. the mycelium is covering a couple of the dec ends and sprouting from the bottom. they still are contam free and have little finger rhizos growing from the sides. i was hoping for something already, but i have seen faster and slower results here so no big deal. i also put a couple of bins in a fc. they seemed slow where they were at and after playing with them a little, they seemed dry. i added about a cup of water to each and put them in the fc. there is some new growth in the 3 days since and none of the bad stuff. on second thought, they now look a little wet, but hopefully it all works out.

Nice trays!

I would up the FAE, they look a lil wet. If that is condensation you need to nip that in the butt(Green Mean). I would leave the top open a lil and fan 4 times a day till condensation gone. Look nice and clean tho. If you get the water off the top, and. the humidity High I see pinnage in a week or 2. Are you misting the casings directly? I don't know about others, but I only mist the sides and top of my FC. If a few drips hit the mycelium no biggie, but when I used to mist the mycelial mass directly, I never got shit for pins. I found that if I get the FC to keep RH of 80+ and 75 deg F consistantly for a week or so, the lil guys can't help but pin. Hate to harp on you but go buy a goddamn Hygrometer/thermometer. The things have saved me from a life of pinless mycelium. If you want I will send you one...

Lookin good tho!!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap I cannot wait to see those HB!!!

i do not mist the mycelium directly. on the cakes i did the first couple of days, then found that out in reading. i havent misted the trays except for once when i first put them in there. seems like there is already enough/too much moisture. in the terrarium, i now mist and fan twice daily, and i have been fanning the tub about the same, with no misting. thanks for the compliments though. so i'll try cracking the lid a bit and see if that helps. they have filled in with growth though since the cup of water deal, they were too dry. i want to see them too, believe me! talk to you later.

Awesome!!!

Still looks a lil wet to me. I would give it another day to dry down some. try to end all condensation on the casing. I would even dap it with a clean paper towel if neccisary.

Nice job tho!! those HB's are so pretty!! I didn't get and prints on mine. No spores in the caps. I hope you do better!!

thanks, i love the little bouncy green guys:rasta: i hope i get some prints too, it would be a little bit of a bummer if i didnt. i still have some lc though, and actually 3 qts wbs ready to go. so hopefully one of them will sporulate. i realize this isnt really a grow log but next time ill do it from start to finish. i really like fahts studies and a few others that this has sort of taken after(i think ill late case these). off topic and jumping ahead, but next up, is oak ridge and orrisa india.

Very nice pins twoguys! :greenboun:greenboun:greenboun
FOAF has a few Hillbilly BRF cakes colonizing right now from LC from an over a year old spore syringe from TGS. The mycellum is ripping through the cakes she started. This is the second spore syringe that has been over a year old that has worked for her! The sponsers here rock! :headbang:
