a friend of mine never grew his own herb before. hes gotten to the point of having nice large buds about 25-50% of hairs are brown on most of the plants. these plants have been through some trouble with fertilizing because my friend couldnt get that concept straight till now but anyway they were both overfertilized and underfertilized but they survived. so when they were first flowering they were hit with a couple doses of a high phosphorous fertilizer to help promote flowering and since then no fertilizer has been added. many of the plants are very yellow and have few leaves but lots of buds. since more time is needed for the thc to attain max potency it would be ideal for them to wait another week or so. but the concern is since the leaves are so yellow and so few is this slowing down the maturing process?? he doesnt want to add any more fertilizer because if the herb needs to be harvested soon he dont want it having any chemicals floating around. should he just wait it out hes having a little panic first time beautiful buds dont want em to being ruined thanks for any advice! Yes I do...

Every other day I will come over and take one bud from the plants. I will tell you when I think they have enough THC in them.......

LOL! I was just messing with you. Growing weed seems to be a fine art. My respect goes out to everyone who practice this art.

lay off the nutes like you suggested for the last week or 2, the plant will be fine. Leaves yellowing and falling off are a sign of nutrient stress as you have mentioned but it also happens a little bit at the end of the flowering cycle naturally too.....losing leaves or having leaves die does slow the growth of the plant because leaves are the satellite receivers of light..without them the process' of the plant will slow down because the energy required to keep its operations going will be lower than usual...

as far as trichomes you want 90 percent to all of them to be capitate stalked.......or look like baby mushrooms.........then you can choose to harvest based on there color/development.......clear is usually an up energetic high, amber is more couchlock and narcotic of a high..a combination of the both will give you a mix of effects......now something i like to do is harvest a little bit at each stage and then the rest of the plant at all amber for this first time and test the buds......if you like all clear, 1/2 and 1/2, or all amber better, then you will know exactly when to harvest the next time you grow the same strain or clone........for your maximum pleasure

also for trichomes i recommend a 10-30x magnifier found at radio shack $10

(look around i have good nutrient schedules for mj posted in the botanicals, and tea formulas, etc)

yea the magnifying glass used doesn't get a close enough look at the trichomes so its hard to see them ill have to look or a better lense. also as far as pollinating goes a few plants seeds are wanted. how can you tell when the seeds are mature enough to harvest? or are odds likely theyll be ready when the plants ready to harvest?
