done it both ways many times-
'washing' the dry weed in tapwater
[i use 5 gallon bucket]
soak overnight
strain/drain off nasty brown sludge and discard
[dissolved chlorophyll, plant sugars and starches]
concentrates the weed, actually losing weight
but not THC, which stays in place on buds.
then use the material for butter/extraction,
the butter/oil will be stronger and taste much better.

I trust Hip so I'll try it
Though it sure sounds just like what I do if I'm making bubble hash.

well, handle the weed more gently than you would making hash,.

don't want to knock off THC glands.
but soaking and draining won't lose much at all
other than useless nasty crap.

THC is insoluble in water.

.With bubblehash its the ice that hardens the trichomes so they fall off.
THC is insoluble in water.
I just kinda thought if the weed was dry enough and the water cold enough you would lose some. However; since the basic material is of such low grade the loss will be minimal. It's all in the perspective.
Next time we make brownies I'll pour the rinse H2O thru the bags and see what comes up . . . Not much I'll wager.

I'm an old time ganja eater. I've always used a slow simmer in a large pot of water with butter added. It can be such a hassle getting all the butter out of the leaf/bud material. Recently I discovered that a potato ricer does the job nicely. They're like a large garlic press.
onediademm I grow for a few med users...one with cancer. One idea occurred to me, but I haven't tried it. Sometimes smoking and eating is difficult for someone who is sick (respiratory ailment or nausea). I was going to make some suppositories using coconut oil which melts at body temps, but kept in the refer will stay quite solid. Have to be very careful about dosage though. Good absorption.
Peace,
Dee
