Update: 2nd flush coming in nicely

These bins only need fanning every day and a half or so. they seem to be doing well with minimal interference. the trays were dunked for around 8 hours each just floating in tap water.

Each substrate was blasted with a sink spray nozzle with cold water prior to the dunk.

this scratched the surface of each bin and now pins are appearing everywhere once again.

to initiate 2nd flush, nothing was done. the bins were placed back in the cabinet. there are two bins that are still flushing out rather slowly but soon enough will be dunked.

can you post what you are averaging wet or dry from any of the bins?

ok. fat pins a poppin. check out this shot! it is post deluge. looks like roughly 4 days till this flush started popping like this. these were dunked the 16th. today is the 21st. they started popping up almost overnight.

this is why dunking is the best! and not only that, anyone who says its a myth, is WRONG!

the great deluge happened. and then, life began again......:mistrust:

thanks for the comments everyone. feel free to criticize. im always tuning everything so input is great!

4-6 bins will make your elbows itch once a week given natures course, casing layers, sub depth and other factors. but adding a casing does add to your colonization speed so you have to allow that to play into the factor. 12 bin rotation will make em itch once a week on rotation. but there is one problem. you will have a gap. so you want more of a 3 bin rotation for this one setup alone. that is what is allowed. to have a perpetual harvest at all times without a gap. there are a few things you have to work with.

Rotation

lets examine a two storage cabinet system. each chamber holds 12 bins for a total of 24.

you will have a gap in fruiting and harvest. if you don't time it correctly.

the idea is you want:

x number of chambers fruiting,
x number of chambers pinning,
x number of chambers incubating,
x number of chambers being dunked.

what this does is create a perpetual fruiting cycle. going week by week will allow this to happen. however, if your timing is off, it may screw up your cycle.

with 24 as your number you have a rule of 6's. so you have 6 tubs pinning, 6 tubs incubating, 6 tubs fruiting, 6 tubs dunking or awaiting to be spawned. (it is the same idea for the smaller setup. 3 chamber rotation so you have 3,3,3,3)

the cycle starts over once you toss out your substrate. this may vary if you get contamination or your awaiting spawn jars to colonize.

there are two trains of thought here. bang out two flushes, or wait on later flushes for monsters. a combination of both of these works great. and it varies up the mixture of your fruit sizes. although, waiting out old flushes may be wasteful and space consuming. its all up to your life and your preference.

but as you play with rotation, you will find a nice comfort zone of where the bending is in this process. its usually a few bins flushes late flushes that look promising that can buy you a week if your timing is off or reality kicks in.

so the idea is that when your harvesting, your pinning, dunking, incubating simultaneously. if you do all your bins at once so lets say 24. then you have no cycle its all one lump sum and then dunk and await your new flush. this will give you a gap in your harvest. the idea is to be consistent. if you time it correctly, you will have a perpetual harvest.

this takes exactly two weeks. make your first batch, birth, then that week when you birth, your spawning more tubs. and on and on and on forever! if you just do it weekly. its hard to screw up that rotation.

but you also have to automatically assume that

1) incubation is going to take a week
2) pinning is going to take a week
3) fruiting is going to take a week
4) so at any time from spawning your looking at two weeks till harvest. give or take natures course

if your in a hurry do what you need to do, but consider timing and give yourself a 2-4 bin contam ratio automatically assumed. just for sanity sake. although most of the time you won't have any, at times we have all faced the green meanie and at times its definitely a player in the ballgame.

using tv's slurry n a hurry and 9er tek cloning and this method is unstoppable! you can literally time it to where you can colonize your clones within 7 days and have spawn ready for your chambers.

pesh clone birthed today.

tex clone yellow cap and orange cap spawned today

pesh clone spawned today.

some bigguns. make for nice prints. one chamber was allowed to have water on the surface. this ended up making the surface water logged a bit. there is a contam showing. all cultivators fault for being lazy. it will be isolated in the morning and paper towels will soak up the extra moisture on the surface of the substrate. if its not fluffy white and looks gooey, thats a bad sign.

mental note: don't do that again lol...

looks like some footlongs....oh yeah...

probably should clone one of these monsters but that would require well....moving...too bad. those are some giants.

well these are some bigguns. funny thing, this bin beat all to the finish line when others haven't begun the race.

these coca cola racks make for great drying. stack them and place fruits on the trays. they have holes so air passes through it. basically this setup is faht's easy fan and basket air drying tek with coca cola racks. you can find these laying around any grocery store near the garbage cans or sides of the building.

you can buy the kitchen drawer liner from walmart and place this at the bottom of the bottom rack so that you can dry small pins that would normally fall through the large holes.

This is a very nice thread :eusa_clap. Question.... How did those LED's treat you? I like them. I know you said 4 hours a day for a week, is that how it ended up turning out? (Not sure if you edited it after you started using them) Also, those LED's, are they easy to remove, put in new batteries, and re-attach?

ok the leds have ups and downs. batteries required which means you need a battery recharger. other than that. they last about a week and then need recharging. not bad. these are given 4 hours of natural daylight a day. usually evening when present. the leds just have sticky back on them. if it runs out or isn't gooey anymore, buy double sided tape. you just pull em and push em on real easy.

Well which one? They are both tc, both about 8" tall and 1/4-1/2" thick. Pick one. They both look great. This will be closed by 2am so get your votes in. Needs to be cloned immediately.
