Thanks for the compliments all and it should be fine, thanks for the concern. I know it's hard to tell from the pics but the wood is really well protected.

We'll do PVC next time, I already have a design in my head and it will be very simple to build. I wanted to go that route but cost was a factor though this time around.

I appreciate ya'll taking the time to read through this and adding comments. Cheers!

We got the idea for this project from this thread by spacecowboy. It's the first link to a PDF at top.

And here's a bit of mushlove porn for you. A crazy nice cluster.

Since that pic I have had to clip off maturing caps because if I were to pull one fruit then many would come with it. lol. You can tell that they were a bit stressed and that was do to me trying to get the environment dialed down. All is good now. They turned out well and are nice dense/meaty fruits and tightly packed... I should have got a wider shot of it... It keeps going and going. :)

Thanks. Yes that was from an isolate. It's not bad but I am going to start over w/ MS and we have some plates that can be sectored more. Those are so packed in it's ridiculous. Even after beheading about 30 shrooms and getting a few picked from the sides it hardly made a dent. lol. Turns out that ONE snapped some pics.

pretty cool. that ghetto rigged floating device is funny! what are you using for a mixing box? is it clean air being pushed in?

you can easily rig a plastic bin from walmart with a hepa attachment. melt the plastic and attach the hepa with the stuff for sealant. if you have trouble with a tight seal, use the stuff and some box tape. sewer hose may help you along the way.

also, paint the wood or line the interior with plastic so no water hits that wood or your gonna have mold on it.

also, if the wood fails. substitute pvc pipe for it. shouldn't be too expensive. but thats freakin rad! bringing back some memories.

id go as far as keeping mixing box and fogger out of there. using sewer hose to tube from the hepa box into the 5 gallon bucket*(where your mister would be floating). add 2 drops iodine and h202 per 5 gallons of water.

here is a consistent cycle.

run it for 15-20 mins every two hours. this will give you optimal everything. leaving it full blast all times, will over saturate everything. unless your doing cakes. or subs with no casing. casings=contams if its too wet.

home depot has timers called intermatic timers. these can be set to i think 14 settings a day. thats all you need. you then set one day and copy it for the week. its real simple.

Hippie, yah it's pesh. I have been working with Hawaiians for years, trying to get the right isolates to produce the Hawaiians that Mycofile did in his infamous neglect tek. Those were some bad ass mushies. They are hands down my favorite out of all the cubensis.

Eats, the plastic is on the inside, and the wood frame is on the outside. There is no wood exposed to moisture. I am not too concerned with the moisture being too high because we don't case anything, its straw beds, and the edibles growing aren't cased either. Plus, like I said, with the climate here, if we turn the fogger off it doesn't take long for the room to dry out, and it definitely affected the size of the mushrooms and the flush. They only fruited from the center of the beds, because the outer area and sides had lost too much moisture. That picture of the bed posted should have flushed out the entire surface and sides.

And yah, we are gonna have to make a new float. That one is sinking from being waterlogged. Got a plan for that too tho.

Trust me, it;s all good lol. It took us awhile to work the kinks out with getting the moisture up to where it should be and some of the beds suffered because of it. The next flushes should be kickin tho!

Will post pics soon..

That timer is the single best deal going right now for our purposes. I highly recommend it, and when you set it up like eatyu suggests then you'll only need to open up your FC when you put your trays in and again when it's time to harvest (so you can leave town for a week if you want!).

BTW: It's a little annoying to set that timer up, and you have to pay very close attention to making sure every start and stop setting is set correctly for AM or PM, and that no two settings accidentally overlap (i.e., "on" at 12:00am for setting #1 and accidentally programming it to be "off" at 12:00am for a different setting).

Thanks for the comments and yes that timer is sweet.

Small update. That silly looking floater ended up being a dud. The foam was too porous and so it got water logged and sunk partially to one side.

One came up with this: Pvc piping and an outdoor drain catch. It worked well for a while but we scrapped it.

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1209707601

So, we came up with this: It uses the same basket but is supported with solid styrofoam and a PET bottle as a splash guard.

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1209707601

shield in place...

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1209707601

This set up works really well and the humidity stays really high. We had to increase the FAE to balance out the environment and now things seem pretty dialed in. We run the fan 6x's a day and it clears the room out with each go.

BTW, that cluster posted above did well and weighed in @ 4 ozs dry. not bad... :)

Ok, I am not authorized to post this as it is part of a grow log that Onediadem is putting together... but perhaps I'll add this as a bit of a tease. :eusa_shhh
I took the pic and its a bit hard to see but this bin is exploding with Pleurotus djamour (pink oyster) and very pink! Damn I wish I could work this camera better. It will be a sight once it has fully fruited. We will be set for awhile with oyster... and I can make some great tempura mushrooms.
