here's a few of my first semperviva pins..

spore samples courtesy of Workman.

germinated and isolated on agar. liquid cultured to pf substrate, using hulled millet instead of brf. cased with 30% cactus mix, 30% peat, 40% verm.

the environment is pretty much the same as i use for cubies and pans.

these things are very slow growers.. it's taken almost a week just to get to this point.

i'll be adding more as they grow. hope no one is in a hurry

much love!

* just found two more little pins! will update soon. :)

Excellent! I believe this is the very first growlog of this species from that revived batch of spores. It looks pretty good so far. These things are like growing a cactus, slow and steady and it helps not to look at them every day.

lol, how true! i watched an empty casing for over a month! it quickly overlaid for a few days and then died back. a month or so later here we are :D

wish i would have kept better track of the dates :o

update - the cap on the bigger one is begining to open! the next pin is sllllooowwwly getting bigger.. as well as the two new pins. hopefully i can post more pics in the next day or two.

question for Workman - these seem as if they will be a light spore depositor..

will i be able to see them on the stem etc. when they begin to drop? any hints?

thanks again everyone!!!

much love!

i think they are ;)

i'll be taking pics of the casing again tomorrow. the large one is much larger now and the convex cap has opened perpendicular to the stem. still no sign of spores.

however, i'm not so lazy i couldn't get a few pics of this :D

an unexpected treat! this contamned jar was destined for an outdoor attempt.. but when i picked it up i found that it was way ahead of me lol.

ladies and gentlemen...
