I saw a tek I believe to be by Hippie3, HOWEVER I cant find it

it was using those wide mouth Platinum Jars with injection ports on the top... I could probbly make them from what I remember, but I'd rather just re-read it.

and here's a pix of a single as well.... 8oz. jar is 2" high x 3 1/2" wide at bottom. Opening is 3 1/8".

i could see how a large cap might fit nicely...

I think the size of the openning is the same since it still uses a wide mouth cap. Just a shorter jar . . .

Exactly, you can get a cap to fit very well in there, and a needle can reach easily to the bottom of the jar... and its shallow so its very easy to get the cap in and out... Im trying to think of were I saw this... its driving me nuts!

I recently picked up more ten enough half pint wide mouth jars. i'm going to use a case or 2 for some agar.

anyone know offhand how many half pints a half liter would pour? approx how much per jar?

you only pour a thin layer
get the short 'platinum' jars if needle length is problematic

ok.....so how far does say half a liter go? 20 jars? more...

you could prob make 100 jars with a liter. I use about 10ml to a plate/jar.

Sweet, you can even poor the agar through a syringe/airport eh?
I'm gonna make Merm some lids for her agar.
She is doing really well but has lost a couple to contams. This, Im sure will help her out.:bow:

for those of you who don't know. Agar and malt can be picked up at your local asian market. i get my malt at the local brew shop....light malt extract. only problem is that it has alot of stuff that floats in it and therefore has to be filtered before adding the agar and pressure cooking. i think it's like $5 or 10 for a 3lb bag. and agar at your local asian market is like $1.50 for 25g. the recipe I'm using is

10g Malt
9g agar
500mL water

the agar would plug the polyfil.
i have a flowhood to use when pouring.
