Cleaning Shrooms

1. Trying to knock off the casing material wet will mash some of it in to the mush never to come out.
2. Waiting for them to dry and doing one by one is a BEOTCH.
3. Cutting it off loses some good magix.
How do others do it? Is there an easy way Billy is missing? He is trying to clean them of peat/verm.

I use a toothbrush to scrub off casing material from the bases right after harvesting. It gets them really clean.
Hope that helps!

LOL, use straw it's easier to pick away!! But, seriously, I find once they are dry it is easier to get the verm to brush, scrape off... The thing is it'd very difficult to remove it all, just be glad it wasn't grown on poo!! LMAO... :D:D:D A lil won't hurt no one... I heard of folks eating cakes and getting glitter shits, which I don't recommend, I don't know how bad it is, but it hasn't killed anyone I know of, so far....
It is a curb appeal sort of thing. Just curious if any of the engineers here have created an automated stump cleaner not know as 'scissors'.
I think you lose 5% if ye chop but it is OOOOh so easy.

I just put the cracker dry mushrooms in a large freezer bag and shake them around. Most of the casing material will come off through this process.
I will try this.
Maybe I am thinking my friends are more anal than they are.

let your casing material and mushies dry, then just grab em and rub the excess off with your thumb.
doesnt take long at all and not much of a pita imho.

i hand-cut the bottoms of each shroom off with a razor blade which removes a good deal of any type of casing material........ then i wipe some excess material off and into the drying chamber they go.........after they are dry most casing materials, even the stubborn verm usually brushes right off.....there might be a tiny bit left, but eh, no worries bro'
good luck
also i would never wash the shrooms to clean......
Billy has considered doing the cutting, but the 'stump' seems to be one od the densest/heaviest parts of the shrooms. Billdo would hate to chop 5%-10%... Do you think you loose a lot bu blading?
Also one advantage to the cuting is that it will turn blue there, adding curb appeal for Billchers many friends.
Clean/blue/poent/no dropped spores seen to be their desire no matter how much you try to explain it to them.
Thanks python.

loss there is no loss, only gain if you think about it.......you can have an undetermined amount of shrooms for the rest of your life........do this for you and you alone.......not for what anyone else wants.....
i personally love mushrooms for their scientific value and the enjoyment the bring while growing and while ingesting........

first i take the shrooms off, and remove the whole base along with a big chunk of casing. what's interesting is that the bottom fluff of mycelium, which catches most of the casing material (much like roots would), can be peeled away. that is, peeled like the skin on a fruit. the result is a nice round base with very little casing material attached to it. what you're peeling away is mycelium "skin" that really aren't part of the fruit, and aren't even that heavy since they're fluffed and airy like cotton candy. plus, it's mycelium so it's probably not that potent anyways. this worked with pesa. i'm not sure if different strains will give different results. give it a try and tell me if it works for you.
