WBS ?

:rasta:i have a bunch of half pint jars and only a few pint jars.do you think its allright to use the half pint jars?IMO i wouldnt see why not,just have to make twice as much.would like to hear your opinoin on this.Thanks:bow:

i wouldn't see it being a problem, as long as you leave enough space to give the jars a shake :)

I currently have 8 1/2 pints of corn going.

No problems as of yet!! :rasta:

Just leave an empty space at the top for shaking, you should be fine.

that was something else i was wondering about,if i could fill them 3\4 the way up instead of half?

You should be good. I have done both and have both going right now. Just easier to do fewer jars, but it does have the advantage of quick colonization times plus the ability to easily scrap out any contams by just tossing a jar. You're good.

The smaller the jar, the more chance of success IMO. Pint jars and larger for WBS can develop wetspot and other illnesses.

You can mitigate some of this by doing these things.

rinse you wbs well after soaking them

drain them very well (no drips)

put verm layer at the boittom of each jar to soak up extra moisture.

fill wbs 3/4 to the top so you can shake

PC your wbs then as they cool spank them and redistribute kernals (important)

The last one is important as the wbs will lock into place after PC'ing.
