I've been dunking between flushes many times, then remember seeing someone mention injecting sterile spring water into the bulk sub, instead of dunking for 24 hrs. I'd like to try injecting with a big needle and sterile spring water because after i dunk, my casing layer becomes nasty and have to recase the whole thing.
Here's my 2nd flush of Equador in hpoo. The fruits are MUCH bigger than the 1st flush, but fewer of them.

2nd Flush ending..ok to inject water instead of dunk?

Those are nice, EQ's a good strain and loves the poo, you should give them a go at straw. I like to cook up a little poo, then save the water and cook the straw in it. My only complaint with EQ is the long stem, foot long mushrooms are fun and all but they're a bitch to transport with out having to break them in half. Oh and I hate how the stems tend to be hollow and the shrooms fall over on themselves a lot. Oh also they are easier to deal with if you pick them before the caps open up.

Yeah i guess big mushies are kind of a pain, but i'd rather grow for larger over smaller. Get the most out of the bulk sub. I don't see what the big deal is, since they end up crushed into near powder anyway.
I've grown Mex and B+ on BRF cakes. All that work for some small shrooms. Same for for more shrooms. I guess everyone starts with PF tek and moves on from there.
Hey, maybe adding 4% Karo would give the mycellium a snack while rehydrating. Good idea or no?

.
I'm too lazy to dunk, I just pour water straight into the pan... I just pick a corner and pour some in (if there's pins I don't want to disturb); if there aren't any pins I just pour it right on top... doesn't mess the casing layer up too much this way, but casing layer still get's removed when picking the mushroom... just keep a jar of vermiculite handy and do little pour patch jobs with a clean spoon... injecting with a syringe should work too...

Wow, the 4% Karo seems to have worked!
So, I was on my 3rd Flush of EQ in HPOO spawn and decided to try an experiment to 'revitalize' my substrate.
I filled both tubs with Spring Water just up to the casing level. On the larger tub, I also injected sterile 4% Karo
solution using a 10cc Syringe in a checkerboard pattern every 2cm or so.
After they went back into the fruiting chamber, I was amazed to see the larger tub ( the one with the injected 4% Karo ) to have many more pinsets forming, and sure enough, MANY more fruits.
I can't really call this conclusive, because of the size difference in the tubs, but the myc seems to love the 4% 'snack'.

Thats interesting. To have more of a control, the smaller tub should have also been injected in the same fashion, although with just plain water. Maybe the pinset in the middle of the casing is because of injected water right in, and your other tub only got its main source from the edges. Just my idea, looks good though. Should try that experiment again with a control group.
