Panaeolus.. dunk or no dunk

Well..,when someone ask the question.."should I dunk my Pan casing after a first flush",then most of the time we say ..no just water it real good ,with a spray bottle or something like that...
Now,I have found out ,that a dunk really give's a better pinset then just spraying !
I have only tried it a couple of times with a multispore casing, but I'm aboud to do an experiment with three new casings.
I'm gonne use clones this time and I will make 3 different casings...
The first casing will be one that wil not get a dunk ,but just be sprayed with a bottle.
The second wil be dunked right Before the first flush.
And the third will be dunked right AFTER the first flush
It's an ongoing project ,so it will take some time, and you have to check this tread from time to time to see how it's going ,if you're interested.
I know a couple of you guys already dunk Pans casings and I have seen good results, but I have seen no real comparisons posted so far...
The spawn jars are still in the incubator, but I will show pictures of every stage of this project,if I can...
Here's the only example I have so far of a failed casing, that I dunked (after the first flush),because I had nothing to lose...
Before the dunk it had almost no pinset,..see what happened !

The colonizing jars, with the clones for this project are half way...
And I hope they will be ready next Monday or so !
Looks good so far !

I have one question tho...
I want to try a different casing layer...,I have a pre-mixed bag of Peat/coir and a little compost.
Looks very good and wanted to add some vermiculiet aswell....
Shall I try it..?
Or just use the regular stuff for this time,so I won't screw up ?

I'm using some horse poo that I found in the woods.
The poo is a little fresh and had a ph of 4.3
So.., I took a big pan ,filed it with water.. added two spoons of Calcium and the poo...
Cooked on low for 30 minutes and measured the Ph,..it was still to high (6.4).
So I cooked for another 30 minutes without adding more calcium, and now the Ph was 7.4 !
(it's always very important to give the calcium some time to do his thing !) http://mycotopia.net...nt-calcium.html
Drained the water and safed it for some other experiments (picture 1)
After that I added the same amoud of vermiculiet to the horsepoo, and mixed it up very well (picture 2).
Stored the mixture in jars and pressure cooked for 70 minutes (picture 3).
Now it's waiting for the spawn to be ready...
The jars are almost 100% colonized ,but I don't think the inside is..,so I leave them in the incubater for one or two more days !
Well, that's it for today...let you all know when the jars are done.. :)
