Okay..,little update...

The jars are fully colonized (picture 1)
(the uncolonized stuff you see at the bottom is just plain verm.)

So,..I crumbled up every cake in seperate plastic bags...
Added two jars of casing material to each cake/bag and mixed it up very good !
I have know three bags for three trays ready... (picture 2)

Finally I filled the tray up and they are now stored in the incubator for two or three days. (picture3)

In the meanwhile,I made a mixture for the casing layer, with 50% Vermiculiet, and 50% of pre-mixed materials containing Peat/Coir and compost.
It felt very loose after mixing it all up,and I think it will work very well..atleast I hope so ! (last picture)
It's also been sterilized ,and I will add it as soon as the trays are fully colonized.

I'm very excited at the moment and I hope it will turn out well ! :)

One day later...,all three casings are already 100% recovered ! :)

So I have aplied the top casing layer (0.5 cm thick) and returned them to the incubator...
For who wants to know, the incubator temperature is 27 oC.
..Sorry for the blurry picture, but I was very afraid of contams,if I took to much time to take a good picture...

Going great so far...!

Here's a little update...

I took the trays out of the incubator and placed them in the terrarium.
They will get indirect natural light and fresh air for another two hours,..and after that I'm gonne take the first tray out,and dunk it for aboud two to three hours...
I will not dunk the tray at this time, because I want to give every tray the same amound of light, and it will be dark soon.

I have to be carefull dunking, because the mycelium is not as strong as after a first flush,it will break apart easily...
Maybe I should have wait a little more longer before taking them out of the incubator, but I don't have alot of time (leaving tommorow).
Here are some pictures...

Oeps almost forgot the dunk...!
Was tripping heavy..lol

I dunked it for a total of 4 hours...
I weighted the undunked tray and the dunked one.

The dunked tray had gained 100 grams of weight !
It's still looks very solid and good !

exciting.... :teeth:

Totally cool, man!

I am anxious to see what the dunked tray will do.

Do you incubate your trays with the plastic wrap on them tight?

So Finally (taken too long) here are the results so far...!

Im happy and again i'm not...
The pictures show the proof of the bennefits of dunking,..but there seems to be something wrong with all the trays !
After I cased the trays, growth started slowing down....
When I started getting pins 6-7 days later, there were only few there...?!

Now ,when the pins start to turn in to little shrooms,I can clearly see there thin, and some fall over !
I've had this happening a couple of times this year, and I think I know why...
It's either to much calcium, or I should not have tried this casing mix, especially the peat and compost.

So,next time I do this experiment again,I will stick to my more natural way of doing this,...no experimentation.

But big flush or not ,it's a succeeded experiment, and it shows without any doubt, there is much bennefit in dunking, even before the first flush with Pans !

I will take it to the second flush, and then try a different strain, multispore.

But for now, here's a picture of the first flush !

Damn, Pans are so fast, it is just amazing.

I can not tell if it is the picture, but does the color look off to you?

They don't seem to have the usual warm Pan glow.

Still a pretty decent flush.

An excellent demonstration of the value of dunking!

Btw the size of the trays are 16x25 cm (6,3 x 9,8 inch)
Depth of substrate including casing layer is +- 2cm (0,8 inch)

Total harvest of first tray/first flush is 50 grams wet..,not bad for such a small tray :)

That is one of the nicest compact non-digital scales I've ever seen.

Gram accurate and a very wide range of operation.

Nice flush too!

Weird how some of those guys fell over. Maybe they tripped!

Nice space! I usually mist the crap out of them till the casing is a lil muddy, interesting to see dunks :). I often have my guys falling over from the weight in the cap, thats a good thing unless you are going for length  Nice work bro

Yes,it is...
Should take me a couple of more experiments to see exactly why this happens.
Could be more then one factor.
If the second flush gives more solid shrooms, then perhaps I dunked to early.
Gonne have to experiment with that too.
