But very few contams grow quick and healthy on moist cardboard.
It is an an excellent differentiating media.
Cool thread, Hyph. Interested to see where it goes...

ive been doing alot of grain to grain lately
and this is pretty much like that, but with flesh instead of grains
so whatever happened with the shredded up card board
i think it would be a good idea to just load up like 10 cardboard slots
verm on the bottow (using quart jars).. let them colonize, shred them
and just (sanitarily) pour them into waiting grain or cake jars
i guess the prefered thing to do would be to shred a bunch of cardboard first, then throw in a good amount of small clippings
let that colonize, then you could just break it up like you would any grain jar and transfer that way..
so is there any problem with trying to colonize a lot of the slots at once?
here, i will play you a lovely sonnet for your hard work
:eusa_booh
hey p.s. isnt that a contamination on the jar with the shredded cardboard?

Naw , just green paper printing on the cardboard. That was a silly test that required more time and effort.
Good news I ..... f i n a l l y have another strain up and running. The OC I used above is so dang slow it will make you cry. I can't wait to see this SA in cardboard experiments.

if i was going to go through with lifting the top layer to get to the chunks then placing the disc back down, wouldn't it be better to just pull the top disc with a PC'd fork and transfer it into a quart jar of some grain(i have popcorn) immediately?

could i pc the cardboard in the 1/2 pints if i had reservations about using them unsterile? or would it effect the card boards contam resistance?

Im just now trying my hand with the cardboard tek. Basically, Im just using Hyph's method w/o the Verm.
Iv got growth, but I think I need to raise the temperature. It's still early in the morning for me Zodd...so I might be missing what your saying, but I PC'd my Cardboard slices and their doing fine.

All you need to do is blend cardboard and water and add whatever you want. Paper shreds are good , horse manure , leaves etc ... then you pour that pulp over a window screen (makes paper) or over a wire basket strainer.
If you use the stainer , once the waters mostly drained out you can pick up the mass and squeeze it , form it into a ball , or place it in a yogurt container and make a puck-like object. Or you can press a wafer that can fit in the bottom of a jar , for cloning.
