Live I use a half cup of spent grounds per block of coir.

I do most of my cakes and bags out of LC.
Have good luck with em too.
hey do you add that coffee when mixing for the soak before pasteurizing

Didn't have spawn, just an LC, so I figured wtf and went with it.

I add the coffee DURING pasteurization.
You can use cakes as spawn bro, makes great spawn!
I wouldn't do supercakes for spawn as those seem to be used for straight fruiting and your bulk sub will have all that it needs!

They make excellent spawn - a stand up vegetable grater will reduce a cake to a million points of inoculation in a very short time.
Cakes are also a very cheap and easy way to test an LC or questionable syringe.

This is the mega cake I shredded up like you said to a bulk sub.

The cheese grater works like a charm

Back on topic, damnit!
Total apologies Livewire!

Invitro BB-Nug with her bag pulled off:

And man-o-man do I love those presealable spawn bags. So much less hassle. I don't use the injector port types, though. A blob of silicone with some duct tape over it makes a great inoculation port. Don't forget the duct tape, 'cause the silicone blob will sometimes pop right off the spawn bag without some support.
And don't put the duct tape on before the PC run. Duct tape melts...makes a sticky mess.

I just read through it!
this is what this thread needed, i simply follow hippie3's repost of hydr0420's method, i like the grains colonizing within the bag though, that's interesting! it eliminates a process for sure!
while we all got off topic a little with cakes, lets re assure anyone that is not wanting to step into grains, but want to go bulkish, that you can continue doing cakes, and use a food grater to grate it up, and use your cakes as spawn! There isn't a need to do any special cake formula either, since it's just being used as spawn, the most basic flour/verm cake can be used.
So cakes do have a little bit o place in this thread, just as spawn though!
and bonzai im just guessing because all things are possible, but have you tried a grain to grain type transfer into those bags? i bet that'd shave a day or two off the time!

I inoculate the popcorn layer with about 90-120mL of hot/fresh growing LC. No need to worry about over wetting, all the coir/castings under the corn soak it up. I always move the needle around a lot, soaking the top layer of corn and getting plenty to drip down the sides of the bag. 60mL syringes are our friends.
The popcorn runs FAST. Usually 4 days at 86F. After mixing, the nugget is usually done in another 5-6 days (depending on volume). I start giving 'em light after day 3 if they are past 80% colonized.
And it takes 'em a little longer, but I don't do any squeezing for fresh air exchange. I love those friggin' filter patches. They are a thing of beauty.

The other bags don't seem to moving too fast.
So the other day when I was breaking up the supercake with sand in it I figured I'd start another invitro bag.
This was mixed at about 50/50 spawn to pasteurized compost with 20% or so verm in it.
This was inoculated 5 days ago.
I know it ain't the best pic but you can see it lol

And since this is being done invitro, it has been given light from day 1.
As I know some have been asking this in other threads.

with sand there would really be no need for a phbuffer i'm thinking.
when i use coffee grinds, (i know this is late) I just toss in a few tablespoons, not much really!

The compost it was spawned to was neutral as it was aged well.
Man I've NEVER had luck with coffee at all man.
Goes green on me every time i there's coffee in it.
