Got a few gifts today in the mail from a 'topiate, freekin awesome letter man very professional great clean prints!

So these Pans are a wild florida strain, which i'm excited about. My experience with wild floridian shrooms is when picked at right time, are always the freekin best. But i've never been to ThaiLand, and i've heard those are pretty potent when picked there and eaten by people that have been there, but it's all subjective, it's the best i've known..

anyhow

I used this:

to make this: (well that's the print after i washed it, it was freekin dark!)

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1220680540

Now I know the syringe is squid ink, but i'll be pulling up water after using 3cc's, then pulling up after using another 3cc's, it should work out fine and allow me many jars, I am fresh out of 60cc syringes or I would have dedicated it to that. A drip on agar may be done as well on this one, this 'topiate sent a good bit of spore. So I have some wiggle room.

When I recieve a print in a packet like that, I will gently slide it open just enough to insert my syringe tip, then slide it as shut as i can get it, then inject half of the syringe then gently massage the print through the bag in the water until it comes off, which is quickly, and it makes "squid ink", I usualy turn a print into 1 or 2 dark 60cc syringes, but as I said, I am out, so i made a dark 10cc.

This will be put on pints of rye grain made just a little on the dry side. I will be attempting a liquid culture as well using my standard cubensis LC recipe.
The colonized spawn will be spawned to 50/50 hpoo/wheatstraw to a depth of 1 inch. It will then be cased with 1/4th inch frog grass/vermiculite/calc carb. Once the tub is colonized and the casing is colonized, pans usually take a very short time to pin/mature.

Can't wait to finish!!!

oh and my wife is bad ass and updated all the other threads quick like!
plus we have ANOTHER hash thread coming up.

SO, it's been a LONG time since i made this print into a syringe.
I used a pair of hair clippers on full blast to vibrate the spore solution, worked beautifully, i'll never shake a syringe again!.

It being pans, i wanted to do ALL of my work in a glovebox,

wikid built us a glovebox, well, we both built it, but whatever, here goes:

today, inoculated a half gallon jar with about 14cc's of very very dark spore solution.
My aim is to clone a cluster of pans.
I also inoculated 2 pints of pans, with same syringe, 3 cc's each.

the half gallon jar is not all the way full, but, will be full enough to spawn a 1" thick manure/straw based susbtrate layer, it will be in a tub that the bottom is 2 foot, by 2 foot in area. (a=LxWxH, H=1", L and W = 2 ', so, area = 2' x's 2' x's 1", so, 24 x 24 x 1, so the area is 576 1inch cubic inches. something like that )

I think, if all goes well, i should get a good pull.

i'll be using a coir/'verm casing layer, possibly toss some frog grass in with it.

the casing layer will simply be a dusting.

Wax paper will be placed on the top of the casing layer, while waiting for it to colonize, hopefully no patching will need to take place.

I have an unorthodoxed casing method anyhow, I'll let the casing layer stay moist and then dry out as it colonizes, i'll dust away what drys up, and it usually exposes a very nicely colonized even all the way across pasture of good myc, then i mist, and throw into fruiting.

you'll see yo.

here we go!!!

Danzick i didn't forget about this project!

Started BRF jars about 10 days ago with wild Florida Pan Cyan. Have a few I'll be able to spawn next week sometime... They move fast.

Good luck w/ the tub limeade. I'm excited to check in.

thanks psoulocybe, be sure to check back!

the casing layer sound good enough? the verm/coir/frog grass? i think frog grass is basically sphagnum.

You mentioned in another thread that you've been using coir-based paper matting for casings for a few years. Have you tried that with pans ?

no i have not, i should but

today i found only one of the pints colonizing, however, the incubator hasn't been plugged in due to it being summer, now it's getting to be fall and temps are dropping, so we've turned the incubator back on by plugging it back in, as always safety first, check the water level, which i need to go do now.

and take a pic of the 1 jar that made it apparently. That's all i will need to get a small grow going.

Good luck with your grow limeade and great idea with the hair clippers to vibrate the spores loose also a little off topic but i actually made some home made limeade the other day thought you might get a laugh out of that
