I was walking around today in Louisville, KY and I found what i think is a large Reishi mushroom. I'll get some pics up of it this afternoon, after i have a chance to clean it up a little. It's about the size of half a basketball, with really interesting coloration on top. It has a hard rubbery feel to it. I was pretty excited, not gonna lie...

I find lots of Reishi all over the place, too. It's apparently a rare mushroom in Asia, so it never ceases to amaze me at how prevalent it is within the U.S. I find it everywhere! Consequently, I've got a lot of dried reishi laying around the house that I intend to make a tea with someday, but never get around to doing it. :o

There are a couple species of Reishi-ish mushrooms growing in the U.S., ganoderma tsugae for one. I don't know if there are any studies that have confirmed whether American reishi has the same purported therapeutic effects that the Chinese reishi does. Taking a bite into the mushrooms though, you can tell it's got something in it, because it certainly tastes mediciney.
