Well, it was going great. Thought I might just get it to work, then saw green took over in a portion of the ziplock of coir. A mistake on my part I'm sure. Rolled it too tight, and not enough air exchange during colonization of the coir.

I'm going to try a couple of these one last time. If they contam again or the growth doesn't work out in the bags, I'm gonna call it a crappy project and not worth it. It seems to be too hit or miss.

I'm using some clone liquid culture of texans this next time around. I hope it works out, I need to dedicate more time to it, but I'm upset at all the bags I've thrown out already lol. I was close two times, but alas, no fruits. I'll do it a bit different these next trials. Sorry for forgetting to update lol.

thx for letting us know.
a pity it's so difficult making it to harvest.
canned hominy was a bit easier.

I'm thinking the Hominy was a better grocery store grow too.

Hopefully the Tex lc will prove to be the strain that works. Its so nice and easy to just shoot these bags up too.
I'll continue on in this thread when the new try is all set up and ready to roll.

I also remember someone who tried a different rice. I wonder how their trial went. I'll have to search that thread out.

I am going to give it a go again very soon. I tired uncle bens brown rice a few years back with mexicana. It stalled completely. I would put a blob of silicone down and then inject the airport syringe. Then pull the bag apart at the sides to draw in air. Then squeeze and repeat. A lot of these bags are filled with neutral gases to stop oxidation. It will also give more internal air and room for shaking. When you have the bag puffed up and take out the syringe the hole should seal and it will be full of air. I chose basmati rice, it had a slightly higher protein count (nitrogen). I am also going to try some ready cooked wheat noodles. every few days you can inject and pull and squeeze the bag expelling and drawing in new air.
