some small shrooms are very dark in the cap and some even show a darkening from the cap down the stipe. wanted to check w/ the community before discarding. these i presume are aborts. are these safe to dry along w/ the rest?

Just keep an eye on them. If you notice them turning black, then pick them off and toss them. By waiting you will be able to tell which ones are going to abort or not. Its important to see the lifecycle of the shrooms to learn. No hurry, and no need tossing good shrooms.

Rocketman is right on.

After looking at your pics, I would eat them:)

But I like to live on the edge of the cliff over the pit of regret:)

You will notice that once a 'flush' is matured/close to maturing that the smaller shrooms will abort or mature at a smaller size. That's the way it is. It's like the mycelium knows that it has mature fruits and concentrates on those....leaving behind the weaker smaller ones. I always have aborts after flushes.

I've always found aborts to be extremely potent... I keep mine separate in a jar labeled,

"fear is the mind killer."

Eat a gram sometime, then tell me I'm wrong :)
