My work has picked up where I have neglected my project. The only ones that are looking good are the one that seem to be in the water most of the time.
Lost told me: in the mean time i would get all those loose uncolonized grains out of that aquarium as they will breed nasties if left there to long...

That is where the most growth has turned out.

I think I read somewhere that if the caps are black there is not enough moisture in the cake. I have also read that the potentcy of these mutants are above normal. I have really been cavalier about my project and there is no contaminants!
It seems that these cakes need to be harvested and then dunked and then given another run.

Is double end casing just having a bed of wet vermiculite for the cake to sit in and more wet vermiculite on the top? Something to provide plenty of moisture and air exchange?
