I remember when the four finger lid went from $15 to $20! We use to break a lid down in matchbox's and sell them for $5 and yes the list went on (did you get any Berkeley blood?)A lid was what would fit in a Prince Albert tobacco tin lid...about an ounce. I must be old too because I remember lids and we used to sell weed by "fingers" instead of weighing it. A four finger bag was considered a lid and was about $20. Anyone remember disco biscuits, reds, christmas trees, black beauties, yellow jackets, pink hearts, speckle birds, white crosses, bennies, soapers, crystal T...the list goes on and on ...
Those were the days...

So what is the hip term for mushies then?
"Hey man, are you experienced?"
Will that work?
I don't think mushrooms are common enough to have slang. I've heard them called 'boomers' but you'd probably have to explain it. I have tried to give some away to people and the conversation goes like:
"So there are these mushrooms..."
"Mushrooms? The magic kind?"
"Right. I can't eat them all- you want some?"
"Uh, no. Thanks for the offer though."

Caps, boomers, or tops. If I'm talking to a close friend and I think someone MIGHT be in ear-shot, we mumble "cow flowers".
I've always wanted to name a band "Brown Wright's Flower Experiment".
Didn't see anyone mention the doses=acid.
And if you're at a Phil Lesh (example) show and some scabby early-20s girl seems to be looking for a lost cat - "Here kitty kitty kitty", that's ketamine she's looking for - for some reason or the other.

Since Golly's wonderful honey tek, my friends and i have taken to calling shrooms 'honey'. We can talk about it right in the open and no one questions it.

'Disco Biscuit' was a term for ludes (or whatever downer was going around), although now I hear it refers to MDMA.
'Dusted' was a joint laced with PCP. Also used to describe someone under the influence of same. Don't guess Angel Dust even exists anymore...I must be ancient...
Oh, and "thanks for the great site" saith the pirate...

a lid was just that,I saw that in Cheech and Chong too and was also wondering what it meant. My guess would be that a "lid" would have been a mason jar filled to the lid? From watching that movie i know it is definately way more than a quarter.
a lid off a cookie tin filled with pot,
often a bit over an ounce.

PCP still exists. Its Phencycladine, which from my understanding is used by horse breeders to immobilize horses for transport. The injection vials of liquid are emptied into pyrex glass dishes and heated from underneath w a hotplate/stoverange, while being evaporated w a fan. the resulting white powder is your angel dust. you dont see it much but its still around. BTW embalming fluid or formaldehyde is NOT pcp. Its formaldehyde. big diffBack in my day, the term 'gear' ALWAYS meant heroin. Seems like now, the kids use it to describe whatever they're tryin' to score. Oh, shit. Does one still 'score'?

Please site a source, my information says: PCP was formerly used as a surgical anesthetic in both humans and veterinary practice, but it is not currently manufactured, and has been placed under Schedule II of the Controlled Substance Act in the US.
I also don't know why you'd want an anestetized horse on it's feet much less in a moving trailer.
By the way, it's "phencyclidine".
