when is the optimum time to birth your brf cakes -
as soon as they are fully colonized
or
a week after full colonization
or
after pins are spotted forming ?

although i have done it all 3 ways a week after seems to suit right

i usually end up seein pins b4...but week after full colonization works well...depending usually a week after i end up with pins....

I've only done brf a few times but I did wait a week after full colonization and had good results.

i am just now experimenting with brf/supercake again for the first time in a wihle i have only done them once in the past but i do wait about 5 days after full colo before i birth

I go for 5 days to a week after it looks fully colonised.

other. i go with a few days after i visually see full colonization. so i picked a week bc that was closest.

now with substrates. i do 3 days after full colonization.

better to let it sit 7 to 10 days. the myc should have eaten all the nutrients before pinning. u dont want nutes in the pinning stage. otherwise u ll get ugly blobs instead of nice pins.

Why are some people birthing right when fully colonized? Doesn't it need to feed for a while to develop the network?

right. thats why u should give it some time. the myc should have eaten through the whole cake. and if it has eaten all available nutrients it can put all its power in fruiting. the outcome will be the best.

btw the cakes wont fruit until they r fully colonized. if u birth too early, the myc has to grow against fruiting conditions, which costs energy (which is not available for producing fruits)
