(rather than Irish-american who do actually seem to get offended at the drunk-irish stereotype).

:eusa_eh: irony. another generalization, gone awry.

funny how one single death sparks so much contraversy...
i mean they would never make such a fuss if the dude just drank himself to death
or went out and bought a handgun.. also legal ... and shot himself..
but as george carlin said
the kid who eats to many marbles doesn't get to grow up and have kids of his own
i know a lot of people.. who've eatin a lot of drugs.. not one of them as ever thought they could actually fly.. sure sometimes you feel like you can... but never dumb enough to jump from a window
sucks that they are looking at closing the loophole b/c of one idiot

"they ended up killing him"

Excuse me... but give me a fucking break.

I cant remember the last time I saw a mushroom commit the act of murder.

Stupid, closed minded fools.

Well, I'm Irish-American, and I found it rather more than a little offensive.

Well I apologize again.

Well, I'm Irish-American, and I found it rather more than a little offensive. It wasn't just the propogation of stereotype, it was the way in which you said it.

:eusa_eh: irony. another generalization, gone awry.

The thing is that here in Ireland it is not a stereotype or seen as offensive. The only time we see this "drunken irish" thing is in american TV programs like the simpsons. That is why I did generalise about irish americans. I presume Hippie thought I was american (and not an "Irish-american") and that I was having a pick at "the irish". I was not and was just stating my own experience. I do only know one guy my age who does not drink.

As I mentioned I dont think there would have been any claims of me being "racist" (Irish is not defined as a separate race in my geography book) if I lived in mongolia and had said something like. "he is Mongolian after all, I have only met, or even heard of, one single Mongolian person in my age group who does not drink, most drink to excess", I had forgotten that a stereotype exists in the US and was just pointing out that in my country people my age do generally drink, in case people did not know. It was pre-answering the expected following question "why would you presume he was likely to be drinking".

I bet alot of these "flying" stories are
really people getting fucked up and then
falling out windows and off balconies.

Then their buddies say "he was tripping,
must have thought he could fly!"

Yes, the media and myths have led to this. My friend who drinks and smokes the very odd bit of weed is scared shitless to take shrooms, he thought all they do is "make you see giants rats and other mad stuff", never hearing of the mind effects at all, i.e. you would be walking around with a totally pretty normal mindset but just seeing mad stuff. He had also heard that Jim Morrison died from taking acid and "thinking he could fly".

There was another article in one of the papers of a guy 3 years back that was finally closed. He fell out the window of a flat on a "cocktail" of drugs, mentioned e, cocaine & heroin. No doubt if there was acid in the mix he would have been another flyer.

In Canada, it is not a priority to fill up the jails, a cop might ask you to shut down on your own first before coming back with a search warrent.

I would think that statement might not apply to all provinces... not to mention that we have a new drugs-are-bad political party in power now.

Man how many people get killed from drinking and driving? Why don't they make booze illegal as well. One person dies as a result of drinking and eating mushrooms but blame it only on the mushrooms. This is called tunnel vision..................

I think hippie should admit that he was wrong to tell off the drunken irishman (just kidding on the dunken comment). It seems as though only one person here has the pre concieved steriotypes.

haha im irish and at every ocasion possible i get drunk :) i got to the states for a few months every now n then and when i was younger and broke over there(working a crap job) i trived on the fact that we are steriotyped to be always drinking cause complete strangers who are irish-american buy you a few drinks and get drunk with you :)

Lately drink is a last resort ... id rather smoke or mush then drink but there not very sociable but hey drink is legal so guess its my only option from now on when ive nothing else.

Out of cannibis, mushrooms and drink i know which one SHOULD be illegal but id go mad if it was :) (oh by the way the answers drink)

Too right mate. This was what we [pro mushroom campaigners] were constantly telling the government when they were putting through the ban in England.... their argument was absolute nonsense.

It prolly wouldn't matter what province you are in, RCMP is the same all over. You might get a rougher time from a city cop or OPP. Our new government has nothing to do with it, they are not rewriting drug laws overnight and they are too much of a minority to just do whatever they want anyways.

Just remember, it IS against the law and although you won't get the harsh penalties americans do, you could still end up with a criminal record which will prevent you from entering the US. Mush of it has to do with your attitude towards them and how big of an operation you have.

I know this is sort of an older post... but I was reading through, and I didn't see, or perhaps I missed it, the State Laws in the USA for spores. What states are spores illegal in? There are some, right?

Psilocybin mushroom spores are legal to sell and possess in every state except California, Idaho, and Georgia.

I believe the illegal states are CA, GA, ID. Seems OH is working on it. Haven't
heard anything passed there yet.........what's more bazaar? Psilocybin mushrooms grow wild in those very same states. In CA, they grow all out on the lawns of the State's House of Respresentatives....the very place CA's laws
started, Liberty Caps...........slp/fmrc
