(rather than Irish-american who do actually seem to get offended at the drunk-irish stereotype).
:eusa_eh: irony. another generalization, gone awry.

Well I apologize again.Well, I'm Irish-American, and I found it rather more than a little offensive.
Well, I'm Irish-American, and I found it rather more than a little offensive. It wasn't just the propogation of stereotype, it was the way in which you said it.
The thing is that here in Ireland it is not a stereotype or seen as offensive. The only time we see this "drunken irish" thing is in american TV programs like the simpsons. That is why I did generalise about irish americans. I presume Hippie thought I was american (and not an "Irish-american") and that I was having a pick at "the irish". I was not and was just stating my own experience. I do only know one guy my age who does not drink.:eusa_eh: irony. another generalization, gone awry.

Yes, the media and myths have led to this. My friend who drinks and smokes the very odd bit of weed is scared shitless to take shrooms, he thought all they do is "make you see giants rats and other mad stuff", never hearing of the mind effects at all, i.e. you would be walking around with a totally pretty normal mindset but just seeing mad stuff. He had also heard that Jim Morrison died from taking acid and "thinking he could fly".Then their buddies say "he was tripping,
must have thought he could fly!"

In Canada, it is not a priority to fill up the jails, a cop might ask you to shut down on your own first before coming back with a search warrent.

Man how many people get killed from drinking and driving? Why don't they make booze illegal as well. One person dies as a result of drinking and eating mushrooms but blame it only on the mushrooms. This is called tunnel vision..................
