Went to buy some 9mm ammo Saturday. The price had gone up 30% overnight.

When I asked why, I was told that the shortages have begun- and that many calibers would be sold out soon. Whether that means in THAT store or what, I didn't have time to ask.

Gotta run to MO. Will do more research and add to this thread soon.

Yup, been dealing with it here in my state for the last couple months.

.270 and 30.06 are still ok for now....'just running low'

but .223 and esp .308 are a real bitch to find at bulk. Hell walmart's shelves are empty of them. Two walmart employees in two cities said walmart will no longer be selling ammo in the future :amazed:

We do have a shop that sells by the box but damn.....A ptr91 with a tac trigger eats that up pretty fast..

We better start loading , stocking up.

if u like shooting once a week. ammo at some ranges are 20 bucks for 50 rounds 9mm. thats a rip. so if you stock up its much cheaper than spending 80 bucks everytime you go shooting.

I wonder if this is China's doing? I've heard complaints from some folks behind the counter that the rise in prices, and shortages, are due to China some how owning all the copper and lead, either because they've bought all the mines or just have lined them selves up as the cheapest source. Whatever happened to good ol fashioned American Bullets? Don't we make anything in this country anymore? other than unemployment?

i understand that
mr. obama ordered the military to shred its' used brass
instead of selling it to ammo makers,
as had been done until now.

the loss of access to millions of spent cartridges
has no doubt
at least temporarily
caused disruption in the supply line,
and triggered a price increase.

Yes that was the plan..Enough people screamed bloody murder and the feds listened..
So for now , those spent cartridges will be resold to ammo dealers..

This is all it takes to bring sanity back to government -yell and bitch to the people making the rules..It makes a difference..

Now primers are in shortage. This whole story really bothers me. Time to get out of town and back to the farm, methinks. Been wanting to do it for a while anyway.

i heard that too, but from what i understand factory ammo is made with new brass.
used brass would effect handloaders/reloaders.

i've been bitching about no ammo for the last couple months, that's why i ordered a few handloading books and the dillon press on the way soon.
gonna teach myself something new...

Nay - brass can be reused something like 5 times or so, and when they can ensure the brass has only been fired once or twice, such as with military brass, then ammo manufacturers can use it with confidence.

Man maybe I'm lucky, I can only possess and use primitive weapons (black-powder) by law.. Need to get myself a nice re-issue Cap'n Ball Colt..
It seems most of the ones I've seen were made like toys though, dont seem too well constructed... I'd like to get my hands on a nicely made reissue...

Reloading brass is fun and rewarding. It MUST be done sober however. One mistake and you or someone else is dead from a fuck-up.

this is entirely true.
last years "gas shortage" was caused by words and fear.
not by true lack of normal supply,
when demand goes up unnaturally....say...
by conspiracy theorists and this anti christ BS,....
it takes time for the supply to go up...

simple math.
