thats an incredibly dense canopy you got goin on there, those are only like 10 inches to! that hydro really does have its advantages, just make sure you get a good flush :)

Foaf just did some trimming. 2 were trimmed all the bottom of the plants to only the top 4 or 5 leads. foaf wants to get a few really phat buds. the others will b trimmed and bent in other ways as the stretch occurs to hopefully find out the best yielding method for the strain and environment. foaf may have to clip the top leads on some during the first 2 weeks if things get to stretchy, hopefully not. Foaf only has around another 2ft before the tops touch the lamps. Flower cycle of 12/12 will begin tomorrow.

its really pure coincidence, but hopefully its a sign of good things to come. foaf just hopes veg time wasn't too long for the height limitation. will update soon with the trimmed ladies.

maybe some lst will help you if you thin them out... those shouldnt stretch too much, but i would go ahead and get something to combat mites, i have heard that they attract them like a mofo.

I tell ya,

I trimmed my plants ALOT this grow and it really seems to be helping..

The buds are starting way further down the stems... We'll see if they get as beefy as last round.

Nice looking plants man, they def look like keepers!

foaf uses sm-90 and treated with systemic abamectin in veg to combat mite and thrip infestation from trading cuts. foaf uses sm-90 as prevention as well. Outdoor HP is susceptible to bugs and mold.

foaf has used lst with succes with other strains. foaf doesn't want to bend if possible, to keep flowering times shorter.
hope to get some pics soon during lights on.

Foaf switched to 5/10/15 grow/micro/bloom for addback solution at 30%. Foaf adds back during lights off with remote rez.

with LST you dont have to bend it down all the way around the pot, you can just tie down with a simple slip-knot and then you can tighten and the branch will come down a little. on the sensi website, it says that the plants don't stretch very much at all, so that shouldnt be an issue. lets see some trimmed ladies!

The 2nd pic shows how the ladies bottoms branches were taken off. All the plants are like that, but the regrowth foaf got after that was out of control. The other branches filled out the canopy within days of chopping the side branches. Foaf is running out of height, so has began bending over the tops to try to even out the canopy. Next round foaf will probably run 12 HP and flower at 8 inches and pinch/remove every node but the top. Foaf doesn't think it feasable to run only 6 and get single cola and get max yield in low height space. Foaf would rather get higher yield out of this grow than big buds, then wait for fall for the big fat outdoor buds. The growth rate foaf is seeing from ebb/flow is phenomenal.
Foaf is getting ready to change the rez soon. Just gonna fill up new rez, then put the pump in a new rez. Foaf will be switching over to either lucas formula 0/8/16 flora series grow/micro/bloom with floralicious bloom and florablend or 5/10/15 grow/micro/bloom gh flora with floralicious bloom/florablend. May use liquid koolbloom again. Either formula would be kept at 1000 ppm at .5 scale. Anybody have any experience with flora series and different ratios or gh additives for flowering? Like the difference in plant structure between keeping the 5 ml grow and cutting it out?

All these pics are from the april 22nd.

It should be noted that the aero-cloner shown above was made according to the post here at mycotopia by cap showing KingRalph's EZ-clone replica design. Foaf said that it was really easy to build, no gluing, only sawing and drilling. Foaf made 40 holes with hole saw. Thanks for the post Cap.

Foaf felt like things were on a roll until:

When foaf changed the rez, foaf pinched off the tube going to the buckets. Foaf knew something wasn't right when the rez didn't lose volume from plants drinking solution, and found out during the nightcycle. The plants sat for a day without any solution and got damaged. Not a total loss, but foaf was really sad to see fan leaves twice the size of his hand burned to a crisp on the bottom half. foaf is thinking its not going to hurt things too bad bc all the damage was on lower parts foaf probably should have trimmed anyway bc the canopy is so thick light can't get that far. Now things are looking really trimmed on bottoms, lollipop style. Foaf keeps taking out weak looking branches/budsites, only leave the top budsites that are going to produce, but new budsites are being made so fast foaf can't hardly keep up. Bigger budsites are like pencil tips now.
Foaf will get some pics hopefully this next lights on. Hopefully foaf can laugh about this f-up over a bowl of HP in about 2 months.

Needless to say, foaf will be checking the tubing for kinks more often.

Foaf got things back on track.
Foaf has been taking many pics. heres some.

Pic 1 is showing a really nice HP clone.
Pic 2 shows some of the damage done by sitting without solution for so long. Foaf had to take off all the bottom fan leaves.
Pic 3 A shot of the canopy on 5/3
Pic 4 A shot of the canopy HPS side on 5/4
Pic 5 Bud shot HPS side on 5/4
Pic 6-10 More shots of conversion bulb side

More pics to come..

These pics are all from 5/13. Thats 23 days flowering, starting on 4/20. These Hashplant clones are starting to pack on trichomes. Foaf has been using lucas formula 0/8/16 flora series grow/micro/bloom w/ floralicious bloom and florablend as additives. Foaf added 10 gallons worth of liquid koolbloom to the rez(35 gal) on day 15 and added 30 gallons worth of AN Bud Candy on day 20. foaf knows people that do well with AN products and wanted to do sweet leaf. Now sweet leaf and carbo load are all in one product. Foaf is aware of the hype involved with AN but some of the best indoor grown cannabis foaf has seen has been AN bud(and these AN growers attribute much of their success to sweet leaf).

Comments, questions, and discussion welcomed.

Heres some fresh pics foaf took on 5/20, 30 days after they began flowering on 4/20. When brushing against the flowering clones they have been smelling like pure grape skittle up until today when foaf noticed the acrid afghani HP smell shine through. Wish there was smellovision for u guys, lol. thanks everyone for stopping by this humble thread.

Hey Indo, Those HPs are lookin Sweet!!:headbang: Crystaly! Tell your FOAF the smell is half-way here!

Only one question for him/you and may be a stupid one, but Im good at those. You wrote earlier (permalink #35) " FOAF added 10 gallons worth of liquid koolbloom to the rez(35 gal) on day 15 and added 30 gallons worth of AN Bud Candy on day 20." ---- Huh? Ounces?

twister- foaf has a 35 gal res. 8 ml per gallon bud candy and 5ml gal koolbloom- not a dumb question, foaf missed meaningful info, thanks

Plants are doing good, and keep getting stinkier. foaf took some pics and will try to put them up soon. high temps have been causing some stretching between nodes, but other than that everything looking good. one top got too close to a bulb(not burnt) and started to grow faster and stretchier than the others, so foaf tied the bud down. Other buds have been bent over to try and even out the canopy and light penetration. barely any light reaching the ground, very dark under the canopy. foaf wanted to get all contiguous big buds like the last grow, but that was practically impossible to trim right with the unexpected hydro growth rate and foafs veg time. looks like the yield will be off the hook though. foaf hasn't monocropped b4, so its lookin real good.
