Psilocybe Hispanica Grass Seed Test Jar
- Multispore Culture, Spores from the master himself: Workman (via Sporeworks)
- Grass Seed Mix ('Spiel & Sportrasen') plus 5-10% Horsemanure (28days)
- Thin Casing layer: Pot Flower Soil + Cocohum Mix, pasteurized
- Temperatures: Incubation 27-28 Degr. Celsius, fruiting 15/16 Degr. Celsius
- Pins 14days after casing was applied, another 14 days growth of Pins to mature fruits.

Comments:
I am working on Mycobags but wanted to see if this species is as easy to grow as Workman found it few years ago. I does fruit easy with the correct temperature but I think it would benefit from more substrate mass.
Flesh of the stems is very uncommon- it's dark & shines a bit reddish (a bit similar to Semilanceata stems.)
Odor is Semilanceata like, too. Mycelial growth is thin but a bit more dense and a bit faster than Semilanceata. It turns brown in age. Caps are dropping spores.

I think you must have the World Record for the highest number of simultaneous grows of different psilocybin mushroom species! And not only that but the most rarely grown too. :headbang:

Very interesting to follow!

An inspiration for more peeps to grow exotics rather than being intimidated by them. Excellent work.

Psilocybe Hispanica Unicorn Mycobag culture.
- Multispore Culture from Spores of the master himself: Workman
- rye grain spawn (25days)
- Sterilized (2,5hrs.) substrate mix: Chopped straw 25%, straw pellets 30%, Horse manure 30%, Grass Seed (div. called 'Spiel & Sportrasen') 15% (40 days)
- (Very thin) casing layer: Pot Flower Soil & Cocohum pasteurized
- Temperatures: spawn 27-28 Degr. Celsius, fruiting 15-17 Degr. Celsius
- Pins 15days after casing was applied.

Finally we're going somewhere. This is the 4th flush. All others aborted (you'll see it by the countless old primordia on the surface). I thought it might be too wet and stopped spraying the culture directly which finally was the key. Hope to see more fruits going to mature like the big one. But it seems to go well this time. I have a 2nd bag which showed the same problem and which is now about to fruit the 3rd time. Hope to see there mature fruits as well.
Further comments: The mycelium tends to turn brown on agar, very intense same like mexicana related species.
But the mycelium itself is more growing like Semilanceata or Stuntzii, same texture and growth speed. Semilanceata and Stuntzii turning a little brown in age, too. The mycelium within the substrate is very thin and weak looking. But when the fruiting starts it thickens up and from that white layer between spawn and casing soil the pins emerge slowly but in countless numbers. (like Stuntzii) The fruits themselves need between 2-3 weeks to mature. Note the stems where the mycelium becomes aerial, same like Stuntzii. (and woodloving Psilocybes)

Is it typical for the caps of this species to do this?

If so... Who wants to trade prints?!?!

...that shit is awesome! :)

Very nice looking again!!

Copelandiakidd, from reading most of CaptainFuture's threads I can tell you he doesn't consume any other mushroom than Psilocybe semilanceata! :-)

CaptainFuture, did you start spores directly in rye grain on this one, Captain, or did you germinate the spores on agar first?

Thanks for pointing this out, I hate to repeat myself over and over again :-)
I think with workman they got it. No one asks him these days about potency...

This one was with agar work, like usual.
I only drop spores into grain when I have enough spores from a clean print and being to impatient to wait for agar growth.
