Jar hell..... again [europe]

Right then, my problem (yet again) is finding jars to use for BRF cakes in the UK. A while ago I ordered some 1/2 pint auto clavable jars with screw on lids from somewhere which were fine. I can't for the life of me remember where the hell I got those from though. More recently I had been using pint sized microboxes which I have run out of now. I would prefer to get some suitable 1/2 pint microboxes or plastic jars, but I can't find any anywhere.
Does anyone know of a place that will ship to the UK (or in the UK)?
Thanks in advance.

you would be best served by local sources.
i understand that many of our UK friends buy jars of jelly, etc.
at their local supermarkets,
empty them and use those jars.
still cheaper than the freight charges.
restaurant supply firms might be a good place
to look for plastic jars that could withstand sterilization temperatures.
another option might be to use
bags instead of jars,
shipping companies that sell boxes often sell bags that can handle the task.

BRF bags could be an idea though as I'm only using the cakes for spawn anyway. Would those self seal injector bags do the trick? I don't want to have to buy an impulse sealer you see.

Or you could stuff the mouth of the bag with polyfill and twist tie it shut around the poly.

Go to a thrift shop or bargain store or
whatever they are called there and
get some cheap glasses - whatever
shape and size you want, as long
as they are tapered out.
Make them like regular PF jars, with
a nice layer of verm over the mix, but
put aluminum foil on top and rubber-
band it on. Use two layers or extra
heavy duty aluminum foil.
Then shoot your spores right through
the foil and verm. What you think?

If you do find jars with no shoulders in a supermarket then let everyone know because they would be handy, I never saw any when i was looking for them.

You can use drinking glasses...
What you think?
Christ, I can't believe that I didn't think of using glasses and foil. I have seen pics of people doing that a hundred times. So simple.....
I have been away from mycology to far too long.
Unless I find something perfect locally, I will probably go with the glasses idea.
Thanks people!

This actually seems to be a dutch company, I am sure they would ship to the UK, but everything would have to go through customs.here's a uk source for all kinds of myco goodies

inside the eu ?
how odd.
i thought the whole point of the eu
was to eliminate such barriers
between member nations ?

If only it were that simple. There are many barriers that have been removed which benefit the EU commercially, however , as I am sure it is the case in the United States, law inforcement agencies do not want the free transport of prohibited substances between member states.
Existing customs controls seem a logical way to keep a lid on that situation.
Imagine what would get stopped if there where check points on every USA state border, and with Holland having such a different attitude towards certain things than other member states, our customs are always on the lookout for things incoming from there.
I have travelled from the southern most tip of Spain(12 miles from Morrocco) to Manchester in the UK (2 1/2 day journey on plenty of different trains) and been questioned 4 different times by customs officials, having to show my passport each time(once to a very friendly sniffer dog who missed all the drugs). Thank goodness they didn't find the 1kg of Morroccan Pollen in the back of the speakers of my sound system! :eusa_shhh

Dogfield, you missed a dash out of that link:
http://www.micro-science.co.uk/
I also found this company in my search:
http://www.mycosphere.co.uk/
I think mycosphere are run by "The Psyche Deli", I believe they grew shrooms for sale in head shops in the UK as well as decent grow kits, so they know their beans.
