I have a question. There's a couple Azure beds that were made last year , they didn't fruit , but are packed with white mycelium. They are on the same combo of chips as the Cyans.
Do Azures fruit at the same general time as the Cyans ? It would be awesome to see some pins shooting out of those beds ...
Thanks
H
My azurescens patches (in Central Europe) fruit in mid-october without frost.
Temps are mostly in the 40-60 range.
But they need a long wet fall to fruit.
Watering is essential during dry periods.
In my opinion they fruit more reluctantly
than Psilocybe cyanescens.

I thought azures needed a frost to fruit?
Nope they don't need frost to start pinning.
Btw I really like those lost shot you took Hyphaenation !

The size of your cyans look normal to me.
In general they're pretty small. Frisco's and azures are larger.

Looking forward to picking some today with the wife and the bonfire tonight.
Hey Waylit , you mentioned last year that its better to cut Cyans to harvest rather than pull them up. I notice theres a fuzzy ball of mycelium on the butt of each.
If I was to cut the stalk will it fruit again from that butt-stem that I left in the ground ?
I don't want to hamper the next flush by damaging the mycelium at the fruiting points , but its difficult not to pull them up as many of the fruits are wedged down between woodchips and hard to reach with only the cap exposed.
I'll try and cut where I can ...
Cheers

Thanks a million to Waylitjim for the suggestion to minimize damage by cutting versus pulling the "root" of each fruit (which you see in an above picture is very fuzzy). Cheers WLJ !
P. Cyans are an excellent mushroom to grow in your yard , or out and about in the woods. They are very stealth , to the point that you don't see anything but mycelium for well over a year. The wait is totally worth it though. Its a journey of hope and patience.
Then come the fruits of your labor ...

Using the scissors is a great idea !

Still some pins forming.

Arrr there be booty !

A great day to harvest all around.

I have the harvested fruit in a paper bag in the fridge until tonight. I'm hoping thats okay to keep them fresh at least for tonight , then i'll dry the excess that we don't eat/tea. Is it okay to have them in a paper bag in the fridge for 6 or 7 hours ?

Some of those were a little young, they would've gotten a bit bigger.
I usually wait untill the caps are plane, but I print most of my cyans.
Congrats on a nice harvest

P. Cyans are extremely potent ! :rasta:
The party was great. Excellent visuals including two large video screens and a laser bouncing off the mountain. There was a bonfire and fire-spinning all night.
The 75 grams fresh P. Cyans were a big hit. At least 20 people or more partook , most eating 2 freshies at a time and then another couple later. Everyone I talked to had a great , trippy time and praised the Cyans over and over. Some ate as few as two and felt a noticeable buzz.
Thats 20 people getting good and high off of 75 grams fresh ! Sounds almost unbelievable.
I ate to many ... and got really , really high. I think the problem was I put some in my pocket and nibbled on some as I handed them out to friends. I thought surely three or four grams fresh would be a mild buzz. Wrong.
Things hit me all at once with the weird music and laser lights. There was a bizillion stars in the sky and after spending some time in the van (time out) , I laid and watched the stars.
The only bummer to the evening was that I felt a little nauseous and anti-social. Not a great combo at a fun party. Everyone else had a ball and many did'nt sleep at all.
Looking back I realize that drink combining might have got the better of me. Earlier in the night I was at a birthday where I drank a couple beers and then a couple glasses of wine. Once I got to the bigger party I drank some more beer and a couple shots of jager , then ate the freshies.
I've had that problem before when drinking on mushrooms. I should have been more respectful of the power of P. Cyans and abstained. Oh well you live and learn.
Note to self: P. Cyans are extremely , incredibly , awesomely potent !

for my azures it was the same between 0,2 and 0,5g dry was allways enough for a good little trip for most people.
I had azure aborts that were potent at a 3 to 4 aborts per person level..
so watch put if you find some aborts on that patch and don not mix them with the other ones (i allways look up for that funky, black blue looking mikro shrooms ;))
have fun with the second flush, with my azures I allways liked to dose slow and allwyas eat a little more since they ht so fast that it can get overwhelming specially in a social un setting (festvals etc..)
no alkohol but some good hashish ;)

I laid and watched the stars.
It's an experience beyond words. Priceless.
About my own experiences with Psilocybe cyanescens: 1 gr. = Goodbye!
and by the way: Alcohol + Shrooms = BS!

Today is suppose to rain and more is coming this week. I harvested all the fruits that looked like they were starting to die-back (due to warm dry weather). There are still lots of pins and newly formed fruits throughout the bed.
At first it seems like there are not to many but as you look close and peel back some of the straw mulch you see lots throughout.
Hopefully this coming humidity and rain will allow all the ones that are up to finish ... that would be amazing.
More later.
