As for the water? I save it all, both when iam soaking the shit before pasturisation, and the water it was heated in, aaand the water i squeezed out, very high in nitrogen, plants luv it ;)

Then I lightly place it in trays and spawn it...

any nutes out and the water content is perfect without having to drain.
I just mix the substrate to field cap. as stated above. Then load a large
turkey sized oven bag; squeeze most of the air out of the bag and tie it off.
Then put it in your pot with thermometer. you'll need something to
hold the bag down, also like shown above. The only thing with the oven
bags is that since you tie it off, you'll need to poke a small hole in the bag
so that the heated air (steam) can escape as the substrate heats up.
otherwise the bag will start to float on you. Then just make sure that hole
you poked stays above the water line (which isn't that hard actually).
And since this way is a steam/convection method due to the non-infiltration
of water throughout the substrate, I double the recommended 1 hour to 2
hours in the water bath. Then when you're done, just take the bag out and
set out to cool, but (and this is really important) you need to poke a lot of
tiny holes all over the oven bag so that when the bag is cooling it is
allowed to breathe. It's just another way to do it without having to worry
about the drainage and nute leeching.
Edit: And now just thinking about it, you could probably just not tie the bag
off and leave the end open as you pasteurize the bag. Then you don't
have to worry about water getting in that hole you poked. Kind of feel
stupid that I've been doing the hole poke thing all this time. lol

until i had a few bags spring leaks and flood my doo.
learned my lesson-
whatever can go wrong- will.

didn't work right when I tried squeezing air out of both and then tying both
off, ya know? BUT, now that I'm not going to even tie the bags off (because
I just don't see any reason too), I'm Thinking the two bag thing might just
thwart off that leaking problem. What are your thoughts Hippie3?

but i recomend against leaving it open-ended,
had some flood that way too.

-Get an oven bag, you can get 5 of the smaller (not that much smaller) bags for 4 or 5 bucks.
-Fill with shit, add needed water tie off bag, not too tight to allow air to escape to prevent bag from busting.
-Preheat oven to around 300, after a 30-45 mins drop temp to 200, and leave in oven for 3 hours.
-take it out, and let it cool. Use as spawn.
Make sure though that the urine content is leached out.
Call your local stable for free poo, they are egar to get rid of their shit. Just ask them where their oldest pile is. It is usually already leached out.
