K so here's the scenario.

My buddy missed his court date for a traffic violation, just a generic thing..

What would be considered a valid excuse? Any ideas folks?

Basically he has to setup a motion to reconsider, because the court case is considered closed..so essentially a petition to re-open the case.

Any ideas on what would work in this situation? He apparently got the nec. paperwork and whatnot...but there's a field that asks
"The court decision and/or disposition on this case should be reconsidered because:"

I figured y'all would know best :D

In all reality he just forgot, but that's besides the point! He'd totally have won the thing had he not forgotten about it...so I'd hate to see him get fucked by the legal system and insurance and all that jazz.

Yeah I reckon you're right faery, hospital would be a great excuse...that was my suggestion.

Would work except I think you're exactly right...they've prolly gotten that one 100202305920839572098142895712847891235612094803856 times.

Thats a tough call. Where Im from the county I used to live in was pretty easy AFTER you got the ticket. I used to show up for court a day late on purpose to avoid sitting and waiting..... The one I live in now is not so nice and I actually forgot that date in the most honest sense of all. Tell him to call and show up ASAP because being picked up in the driveway at 9 am still wasted from the night before is not worth it and not fun in any way shape or form....

It's best to take care of it, trust the Gadget...

Hehe we live in a place where that'd never fly gadget!
No 9 am drunken pickups, got it.

Yah, that's prolly a safe play bbd. Good call.:headbang:

Thanks guys!

Mechanical/car thing w/receipt (towing/repair), hospital (easy to fake), good lawyer (even better, but they want to know why he wasn't there). If it's an FTA ain't no excuse that shit's a warrant any way you slice it. Traffic, probably not a prob.

You hit a deer with your car taking back roads home from the bar? You limped your car to the nearest shop and don't have transportation. Oh, and the deer stole your phone. So you couldn't call. lol.

For real, I'm not sure.

Maybe a job interview went over on time and you were afraid to interupt your potential new boss?

I like that one. In our current economy who can't appreciate that?

Best o luck!

Missed your court date for a Traffic ticket?Go to the clerk of court or the magistrates office and pay it off, simple as that.

Or if the charges are debatable then go to the magistrates office an just tell them you accidently missed your court date.I seriously doubt they will put him in jail.Worst case scenario they will give him a unsecured bond.

Funeral of your recently dead made up relative. You got a call there was a funeral an hour before the ceremony, because their religion says they have to be buried asap. Who questions religion?

Yeah we know that he won't go to jail, we aren't worried about that.
The problem is the ticket is totally fightable, he'll win.

So it's getting them to set another court date..

He used the flu-like symptoms one..I'm thinking it'll work just fine, we shall see.

Thanks for all your ideas folks :D :D

The thing was early in the AM, so some of the excuses wouldn't have worked.
Others they might ask him to prove it.

There aren't many deer running around the city :D

Hopefully flu works :eusa_booh

You can't beat good old "food poisoning" for a quick fix excuse... 12-14 hour time of
completely debilitating sickness which goes away as rapidly as it comes on, no doctors
needed, no side effects, no scars, paperwork, etc.

Tell them you went to whatever questionable restaurant you have in the area, to meet
your relative, who is having a hard time of life, ate, and then spent the worst 12 hours of your life
heaving and sweating on the floor of your bathroom, too sick to even call for help,
etc.

Live / love the food poisoning!

if you use the food poisoning excuse too often,
ppl start thinking you are an alcoholic or some other kind of druggie

which of course you are not

there is no 'excuse' other than being able to prove you were in
a] hospital
b] jail
c] another court

Well that's certainly not the answer we wanted to hear hip :puke:
At least it's not my ticket :amazed:
He has no healthcare though, so it's reasonable for him to not go to the hospital even when he's sick. -Argue that one to the judge
