Excuse for missing a court date?

My buddy missed his court date for a traffic violation, just a generic thing..
What would be considered a valid excuse? Any ideas folks?
Basically he has to setup a motion to reconsider, because the court case is considered closed..so essentially a petition to re-open the case.
Any ideas on what would work in this situation? He apparently got the nec. paperwork and whatnot...but there's a field that asks
"The court decision and/or disposition on this case should be reconsidered because:"
I figured y'all would know best :D
In all reality he just forgot, but that's besides the point! He'd totally have won the thing had he not forgotten about it...so I'd hate to see him get fucked by the legal system and insurance and all that jazz.

For real, I'm not sure.
Maybe a job interview went over on time and you were afraid to interupt your potential new boss?
I like that one. In our current economy who can't appreciate that?
Best o luck!

Or if the charges are debatable then go to the magistrates office an just tell them you accidently missed your court date.I seriously doubt they will put him in jail.Worst case scenario they will give him a unsecured bond.

Missed your court date for a Traffic ticket?Go to the clerk of court or the magistrates office and pay it off, simple as that.

Yeah we know that he won't go to jail, we aren't worried about that.
The problem is the ticket is totally fightable, he'll win.
So it's getting them to set another court date..
He used the flu-like symptoms one..I'm thinking it'll work just fine, we shall see.
Thanks for all your ideas folks :D :D

completely debilitating sickness which goes away as rapidly as it comes on, no doctors
needed, no side effects, no scars, paperwork, etc.
Tell them you went to whatever questionable restaurant you have in the area, to meet
your relative, who is having a hard time of life, ate, and then spent the worst 12 hours of your life
heaving and sweating on the floor of your bathroom, too sick to even call for help,
etc.
Live / love the food poisoning!

At least it's not my ticket :amazed:
He has no healthcare though, so it's reasonable for him to not go to the hospital even when he's sick. -Argue that one to the judge
Hey who you callin non-alcoholic!if you use the food poisoning excuse too often,
ppl start thinking you are an alcoholic or some other kind of druggie
which of course you are not
That's worse than calling someone 3.2....
