A while back, before ever reading anything on the web or on these forums, one of my buddys had told me that all i needed to do to grow mushrooms was to simply sprinkle some spores onto a rice crispy treat.:amazed:

Funniest mushroom 'misinformations' you've heard?

A lot of it is due to the carlos castaneda book.i've heard of people trying to smoke them before....
The one I hear is that they all mushrooms grow to full size overnight, not funny but a common perception.

I'm pretty sure that was an interpolation of Huxley describing mescaline in Doors of Perception as starving the brain of glucose.

This may or may not be true, but I thought this would be a good place to ask, and then I see that dial8's post is getting close to my question. If someone could enlighten me on this I would be appreciative: I have heard from a few folks that the government has convinced most farmers to use cattle feed that makes it impossible for their dung to produce mushrooms.
Stephen Peele at FMRL (Florida Mushroom Research Labratory) in a recent TEO says it is not working. Life finds a way. Don't sweat it. Heck, the Coka plant in Columbia has already developed strains proof against the terrible shit the CIA keeps dumping on their fields...defoliants like Round-UP and much worse.
And for the teacher who told her kids that in 40 years you will kill your kids by driving off a cliff...

and the "trip" is just your brain dying.
And all the magic is in the spores -
that's why you only need to eat caps.

I thought it was an all purpose fungicide used on the grain to make it keep longer, as grains tend to mold. This of course finds its way into the poo, and then... d'oh! :eusa_doh:
maybe that's misinformation too

Sure, its possible...but not a way to produce any significant amount.
I've also heard about the "gold flake" shrooms, like they were something special.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....nice and crunchy vermiculite.

I love it!
As to disinformation: You halucinate because of the brain damage. Halucinations are what brain damage "looks like" while it is happening.
Also: the evil pusher man hooking innocent kids on LSD with illicit temporary tattoos. I've seen photocopies of those flyers in so many different places...
