Most teks work great. You just have to find which one works for you the best.

Here is what straight horse poo can do for you.

thxs for the advice all. freaky, i always thought the same thing about mixin, never really understaood the whole layering thing unless the goal was to creat a more solid mycelial network from the start that would retard possible contams (could be im talking outta my ass). To case or not to case? im thinking im gonna case just to prevent possible surface contamination; i got verm out the wazoo. freaky if u need some lemme know. huge bags, $5

 you're all so kind :)

Thanks so much for the offer! Maybe we'll work out a trade or something soon :)

I prefer mixing also. Just seems to inoculate all the manure. I think layering works more for straw if laying in a basket type container.
I find casing manure allows for more flushes off the top of the substrate, but not casing a poo substrate and birthing it out allows for some massive pinning from all sides. I leave some manure cased and some uncased. I never know until the time comes whether or not I'm going to case it lol.

Fine grade verm n peat will still make an excellent casing mix and a hint of lime ,of course...

I've used finer verm before, with a hint of lime :D

I like to make it more of a 60/40 verm peat mix though if its finer grade vermiculite.
