lol ... funny you say that, I got the idea from another site and the person that came up with this contraption actually calls it that... R2D2 haha.

Guys, Im SERIOUSLY considering putting in that 250 HPS, I think I can keep it plenty cool with enough passive intake holes, my glass heat shield, and the 78cfm 120 mm independant exhaust fan. I might give it a shot and monitor it all day to see how the temps get ....

Also ... if I had to I have a 175 cfm 4" dayton fan just sitting unused that I could hook up to the light chamber to really get some cooling power? I think I can keep the bulb about 4.5" away from the tops ..

If you can keep the temps down on that glass, than by all means, I say go for it OZZZ. Ive looked in on this thread a few times, havent found the words Id like to post yet, but youre doing fine for a first time mj grower, those veggies really give you a bit of help if you're able to diagnose problems and come up with a good solution. Progress looks nice, they should start to fatten up soon I imagine.

Thanks bud, I just got done making the switch. From the looks of it, the bud tops will be no less than 4" from the bulb, and more like 4-5", plus ... as you can see in the pics, I have ample intakes. I left the CFL holes wide open for airflow... sure Im loosing light this way, but at 33,000 lumens in 1.8 sq/ft of space @ 133watts per sq/ft ...... I can afford to loose a little.

I think it was the right decision the extra penetration and lumens are going to do wonders. Ill be watching the temps closely throughout today but so far the bulb is completely cool as is the exhaust air.

yeah, you should be fine with temps with the exhaust and intakes and all that good stuff. light loss isnt a problem when youve got that much light in a small area, its light leaking inside you gotta worry about, but you arent having any problems with that by the looks of it, no bananas popping out anywhere Im assuming, plants dont look stressed, little stretchy but thats what the stretch phase is for, giving the plant space to pack on those frosty buds.

I was worried about that too but isnt a problem. The lights go off at 7 pm and its dark by then, the tubs are in a closet with closed doors so even with the room lights being on theres only a sliver of light through the closet door cracks, then it would have to make its way inside the bins ....

So far so good ..... Im excited now I bet they start to fatten up nice. However, Im on time constraints so I have to pull them in exactly 27 days, for better or worse, thats all I can give them ... that will be one day shy of 9 weeks so Im not sure how it will turn out???

Wouldn't 250 be kinda a waist in that small of a space though?
Like as far as W/sqft?

I am rooting for you.

Well it might not be efficient, but more PAR light = more bud.

You have got yourself a very fine grow chamber.

You'd be surprised jaspmf. Efficient, nah not really. A waste, hell no. More light penetration, means thicker, denser buds, and less stretch the plants gotta do to provide light to the internodes. The reason SCroGs trim all this undergrowth it, is because it is unneeded, the buds are sucking up all the light, no energy should go to keeping the lower branches alive when the buds should recieve all the light to increase yield by 2-3 times. Same concept here, without the trimming and such, the smaller the area with more light, as long as you can keep temps in check and all that good stuff, it wont be detrimental(that is unless you've got seedling baking under 2000 watts in a 10sq ft area or something and thatll kill em) That 250 watt light is merely adding much more penetration to those inner budsites, and giving the plants that much more energy to grow bigger.

Edit: Also about Ozzz's question about harvest date. While I would normally advocate using a 100x microscope to look at the trichomes and harvest when they were all cloudy and just starting to turn amber, with the time constraints, you're going to want to give them 24hrs of total darkness prior to harvest to increase trichome production on your buds, also, I cant remember the name of the product, maybe another member here may be able to remind me of it, but theres a liquid nutrient that you feed a week before you WANT to harvest, and it will cause your plant to start maturing and preparing for harvest(as in the changing of the trichomes colors to indicate peak potency and desired effect of a heady high or a couchlock high)

Interesting, and thanks for the suggestion but I wont be purchasing anything further for this grow. As mentioned it was a first time, experimental grow to get my feet wet.

Im moving to Hawaii on Feb 18th so there is no if's, and's, or butt's... these beetches are getting yanked on the 13th, Ill probably flash dry a bud and try it out, then the rest goes to a friend to be properly cured and as a nice parting gift.

Later, Ill shoot for a real run with my 400w HPS.

I do want them to be all they can be of course, but I gotta yank when I yank so they get 9 weeks and no more, unfortunately....

Awesome man, you should definitely see a difference with the HPS as long as temps can be maintained like was brought up earlier, but looks like R2D2 will have no problem with that. I think they should be fine getting yanked when they do. Good luck man, keep us updated!

Too bad you didn't have that HPS from the get-go.

I'm trying, this coming weekend, using one 400 Watt HPS in a superior position and 8 T-12 widespectrum fluoros in a lateral position to augment the walls of my grow room/tent.

$%&$ GOD D&MN M&*&U(#$)#*$)*#$

I think I just completely jacked my grow up guys ..... what do you think?

Heres the deal, yesterday I checked in on my girls that were doing great, as always, I switched the override off on the timer so the light didnt blind me. I watered and checked on the girls then put them back in and FORGOT TO TURN THE LIGHT BACK ON. So about 3 PM yesterday or so, the lights went out when usually they go off at 7. So they went out 3 hours early. Problem is, then at 7 the timer switched and turned the lights back on and I went out last night, didnt get home till 7 a.m. and the fkn lights were ON!!!

I shut them off, now they are on again on a normal schedule .... what is this going to do? Hermies ????????

No worries. Just dont do it again. Id say that all shall be fine... One day of fuckered lights aint disaster IMO. I have heard of friends losing electric for a day or so. or leaving lights on by accident for a day. Not a prob usually, unless it is a really finicky Sativa or sumpin.

This plant is strong and wants to succeed. Even when we make it difficult. Just continue the 12/12 and dont fuck up again.

Learn a lesson? If so its invaluable... Keep rockin homey!!

Seem to be doing well, plant one is rocking, the second plant is much more airy even though more hairs are starting to turn amber then plant one.

Heres both plants:

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1264632156

Plant one, much denser, some hairs turning amber and the branches are starting to bow from the bud weight..

Plant two, has much lighter, more airy buds even though more hairs are turning amber... check out the pics!
