I'm really beginning to love these bucket grows. Here are pics of the most recent project, should get harvest tomorrow sometime. Last bucket I did had half the amount of substrate, so I hope for more and bigger flushes from this one. Not sure I remember the strain on this one, but it could be Z or EC, which is what I've been working with most often lately. Gotta be a little more organized on these things. This was popcorn spawned to h-poo/coir/verm. I did another bucket trying to spawn from LC, but it didn't colonize at all, went into the garden. Still, these things seem to be very productive vs. the space and effort.

Thanks you guys, yes, the coveted majickle shroominess is amply manifest in the bucket.

Uk, the sub was about 4" when first loaded into the bucket, but now it's shrunk a bit from colonization and the production of these boomers. It's still a bit more than 3" deep right now and starting to pull away from the sides. After harvest I'll dunk the cake and drain it then wait on the next flush.

Thank you everybody, especially Taterboard for posting the link to get to this fine little grow tek.

Here's the first flush, quite nicely weighing in at 396.53 wet grams. Woot!

Last pic shows Hippie3 watching over the grows... lol... a little shrine to the man who made all this possible!

BTW this was post 300, lol, I'm such a lightweight.

Heck, you have a real life--nothing wrong with 300 posts when they have substance as yours do.

I do love that last picture. Thank you.

Well I don't know how much substance my posts have, but I'm glad you enjoy them.

That's such a great picture of Hip, I just had to put it up where I do my grows.

Anyway, thanks for the props all you guys, this is such a simple and productive way to grow, very space efficient for the output.

you read my mind! i was gonna start a new thread about 5 gallon buckets. i just got my hands on a dozen of them. and could get a hundred more if needed. i was gonna do a TIT with them, due to my grow room temps. i was wondering about the cover while there in fruiting. i was just gonna put their normal lid on for a few days while the spawn colonizes. the above tek shows a shower cap. awesome way to FAE too. my question is.... since my room is so cold, and the sub is in a TIT, will the shower cap keep the temps at fruiting range inside?? the sub itself will produce heat too. with a temp fluctuation of 30+ degree im not sure. my grows are successful now in the room. but thats with plexiglass lids covered in thick towels, with two inch slits down the length of them. help guys!!! thanks!

Sounds like whatever you're doing is working just fine. In my case, I use the shower cap from the beginning, but I also wrap the bucket in towels or heavy cotton shirts during colonization. I wait till full colonization and then the shower cap allows me to do FAE and light with no problem. I have a little handheld fan that I use to blow fresh air into the bucket by lifting an edge of the cap. It's actually a beach fan, so you can spray some fine mist with it also, which I do when the cap shows too little condensation. Since the sub is fully colonized when I start this, there's little chance for contamination. Not sure what all this does with fruiting temps, but I keep my closet in the 73-76 degree range. Lower temps slow down everything, but you can see the results are quite nice. What are the temps in your fruiting room? If you're in the range below 80F you should be fine, but below 72 or so can cause problems too.

Here are some pics of the second flush. I only dunked the cake after the first flush for about 20 minutes in room temperature bottled water. I just poured the bottle of water into the bucket and let it sit while I got ready for work. Didn't want to leave it there all day, so I drained it a little while later. This might have hurt the output a little, but I got 120 wet grams. After this harvest I did the same, but left the cake dunking all day while I was at work. I just drained it and patted the top surface dry with a clean paper towel. It's now wrapped in a towel in the dark to allow it to colonize a bit again, fluff itself up. I'll probably expose it to light after a couple days.
