how long is the process from hyphal knotting to pinning/semi-maturity on a strain such as this?

SWIM has knotting going on, but there is room for confusion...

There's a bunch of factors at play for this species , such as age of bed (consolidation of mycelial mass) , temperature , humidity , evaporation etc. Generally though P. Cyans grow mostly slowly , nothing like the speed of Cubensis , which really can magically mature overnight to amazing sizes.

It's slow and steady for woodlovers ... you can often watch pins for days.

Two of my beds are fruiting like crazy, many handfulls of fruit every second day from each bed. its kinda bitter sweet though, the fruits seem to suffer from black rot, i can barely harvest them before the rot sets in(fully mature or not). i'm noticing that the shrooms themselves are very saturated with moisture a day after a good rain. i can lightly squeeze the stem & water seeps out . Seems as though the mycelium itself may be getting too wet , it was rather close to the surface before fruiting so i put some leaves on the beds, maybe the bed isn't draining well ,they don't seem to like direct rainfall. i can post more pics if it helps. what do you guys think ? is there anything i can do before another flush ?

maybe take a long screw driver and poke some deep holes in and around the bed itself? that should allow water further down into the ground and a little bit of air to do some drying?

Congratulations to everyone who grew woodlovers this year. There has been some fantastic grows shown. Especially exciting is the first-timers that had success ! The more people grow these species the faster they will spread around the planet.

If you are interested and have any questions feel free to ask.

Go Woodies 2010 !!!

Man had 2 grams of psilocybe cyanofriscosa the other night and man did they kick my ass! ive done 4 gram cubensis trips before and it blew that trip out the park! They are so strong and visual they are like another beast compared to cubensis!

Well here we are in another year , 2011 and its time for many of us to start thinking about starting a woodlover project ... Maybe it will be our first go at woodlovers and maybe it will be an addition to established projects we already have on the go. In any case 2011 promises to be a great year for woodloving species of psilocybes.

Woodlovers are truly the international unifying mushroom species that has the potential to change lives and bring peace to the planet.

Who's growing -woodlovers- in 2011
???

A FOAF is definately joining in on this thread. There will be additions to the Ps. Cyan bed. A new bed for Ps. Cyanofrisosas, and a mystery strain (possibly the same thing. It was a wild find so I am not 100%, definatley a wood lover though).
And not sure if it applies cause technically its not a wood lover but will also be adding a Pan subbalteatus bed somewhere in the mix. :D

Lets get this thread started then.
I said I was going to grow woodlovers last year but I didn't end up doing so,this year I am for sure.I am currently growing some P.cyanofriscosa.I have a tray of wood chips pretty much ready to go now I am just waiting for the weather to get a bit better. We had snow and freezing rain last night so I am going to wait a couple more weeks any way.
A couple pics.
