Use 10% solution of 10ml hydrogen peroxide to 90ml of water for tissue prep. Concentrations higher than that can cause tissue damage and negate any benefits - same with alcohol. Betadine might be fun to try.
Use alcohol (or flame) to clean instruments

Earlier than that and the scion suffers
Another trick is to dock all of the unnecessary foliage off of the scion when cutting off its Mom
Just like taking cuttings
The scion needs to be "structurally sound" - a big canopy load will drag them down
Then, I just wait until the graft begins to split the Parafilm
The growing tissue rips right through the lab film when it's strong enough.

is this a technique you developed or a term youve dubbed? a quick google search of "relay grafting" only finds 3 pages with this one included.

I found the technique is also called ''approach grafting''
Ppl have used this to make some pretty cool looking sycamore trees.

Yes - get this idea out there - post wherever - share w/ whomever
This is totally my idea
One day while cutting firewood - saw a couple of branches "mended" together in the trees I was clearing.
I had been playing with grafts prior to that
I was trying to use typical cut and clone techniques and everything failed
Wilting was hard to control with a cut scion
So I thought to myself.......
Why even cut the scion to begin with?
How about leaving everything live until the "mating" has occurred
Hence.....the word relay - like handing off the baton in a relay race
Sorry I've been so sparse lately - my computer is dead so I have to borrow where I can
Enjoy the idea and put it to work
As for a limit to the number of strains.......
How big of a veg cabinet do you have? LOL
