woke up this morning to the beautiful sounds of my wife screeching that my cat gizmo plucked a baby pete right out of the pot.i checked the cat first to see if it was ok, it was fine, then i frantically searched the area were i keep the rest of my petes.thanfully i found it right under the baseboard heating.it seemed ok except for three little pin holes.can someone tell me if its gonna be ok,and can someone also tell me what would happen if she did eat eat it?its no bigger than a golf ball. now i gotta devise a way to keep her out of there,as she likes to sit there sunning herself, what mischevious little bastards they are lol

If she did eat it i imagine she'd act pretty wacky for a while, and probably throw up all over the place, but probably be alright. personaly i can't really see a cat wanting to eat a cactus, it doesn't resemble meat in the slightest nor does it taste like it... but cats are weird, and way to intelligent, so i donno...

They also love to screw with humans, and people growing interesting plants doubly so (i think the cats can sense the hallucenagenic quality of the plants/shrooms/whatever, and want to have some fun too...)

I'm glad to hear that pete is alright.. sounds like a lousy wakeup call.

Didn't someone else just loose a bunch of baby plants to a cat? I know mine would like nothing more then to rip my cooler apart and dump the pickle jar/heater over... thats why it's about 2 feet above their jumping range(which is 3.5-4 feet, imrpessive little kittens).

I don't think pete will have a problem with pinholes, some of my cactus's survived much worse, they were a different kind then pete(i imagine), but they are tough little bastards.

They do seem to like plants, grass and catnip.. and weed i guess... they killed one of my gf's plants to. They LOVE stealing carrots, but they don't eat them, just stash them like poor pete...
lucky it wasn't a dog that got pete, or it'd be a rather freaked out dog :P

both cats and dogs enjoy supplementing their diets with a bit of greenery from time to time- one reason to be careful if growing toxic plants near pets.

I know from experience that when my dog (and cats I've owned in the past) will eat grass or plants when they don't feel well. Tummy upset or whatever, somehow through evolution or whatever, I think a lot of animals devloped the instinct to raise their fiber intake when they feel sick to help speed through their digestive system whatever is causing the upset. But that's just my theory. And it's true, curiosity killed the cat isn't an old wives tale, they will get into just about anything. I know they can become jealous as well. They might try to do in a plant if they see you paying more attention to it than to them, just as they may plot against another pet or human (I had a cat once that would pee all over my girlfriends things when we weren't around) if they are getting more attention than the cat. Cats are wierd.

Thats the one downside to intelligence in pets, they are smart, and they hatch plans and remember them.... they will plot in groups to if they don't hate eachother.

On the other hand smart pets are great fun when their not plotting against you or your things :P
