My Dad lived on that famous corner in San Francisco during the 60s and was a hippie. His father was a military man and put my Dad through college to protect him from the Vietnam draft. Rumor has it that my Dad's moving company once moved furniture for Mickey Hart....

I was a "hippie" in the early 80's.

Long hair and lived in a cooperative community in CA.

I guess it also depends on how you define hippie though since I had a job and paid rent.

I wouldn't consider myself a hippie, although I do agree with a lot of their views, I just don't like labels.

mom was/is the hardest core 60's revolutionary hippie.
family had money. gramma was a socialite ,with a rolodex of counter culture 50's-60s heads.
only 16 yrs diff between me and mom.

mom raged against the machine, gramma funded it ,college and all,
i trotted along..........
didnt drop acid till 1974, always felt really behind the curve on that.

if ya watch a bunch of old 60's party / concert / or even protest footage,
i was the kid dancing around with all the tripping adults.

mom, all the love, the kind of lady that always made sure everyone had heavy gloves when protesting, so we could chuck back tear gas cans.

i didnt miss it , i just saw it from a kids eyes....

I wish I could have been a hippie then. Could choose to be one now I guess, but I think I'm past that point in my life. I just want to find some land and live off grid hunting, foraging and growing what I need (minus of course the essentials that one needs that can't quite be made or that I don't know how to make).

Guess that is kinda hippie'ish, lol.
