So are those current pictures? It's been since 1/28 and they are still only partially colonized?

yeah dial i JUST took the pics and the dates are marked on the jars.
incubator temp is set to 28oC...thats about 82. Good news is no contaminants....but yeah they are only partially colonized. The b+ and GT are taking FOREVER...but they are growing..just VERY VERY slowly.

have you had trouble with other batches? It is the typical pf formulation, right? Any air holes in the lids? Have you tried flipping the jars?

couple of the jars have fine droplets of water in them.
the substrate is
1Qt stop and shop brand distilled water
1Qt organic brown rice flower bulk from "wholefoods"
2Qts medium grade horticultural vermiculite

lids have 4 holes, as seen where the growth is, with J&J medical tape over the holes...pc for 30-45min.

no problems with other sets...just these for some odd reason won't grow.

oh...and a few of the GT jars weren't colonized on the bottom so i flipped them...they seem to be moving along quicker...but the b's not so much.

I just noticed that your lids on your jars are not inverted. There is no air exchange, I would say that this may be your culprit. The seal on a normal mason jar is way too tight.

Sharkie, good eye. I noticed that too.

Do you have the top layer of dry verm in the jars? If yes, take the tape off, it may speed them to finish. I think thats the main slow going for you is the lids should go rubberside up.

How long have the Tex been in the fruiting chamber?

Personally, i'd loose the tape all together. There's no need for it on jars with a vermiculite barrier. I'd bet if you lost the tape, in a day or 2 they would take off again.

Yeah if you have the verm barrier on top do as Freakachino says. If not then you are going to have to wait it out. Hard to see from the pic if there is a verm barrier. Good luck.

Jars will do fine without inverted lids, and I agree - take the tape off of the holes. It's good for storage/shipping/whatever though...

Als, looks like you might have too many in your incubator, when they are stacked like that there isn't hardly any gas exchange!

Also for the cakes in the terrarium on those red rocks. You should take some moist vermiculite ( about a tablespoon ) and put it on top of the cakes as a casing layer. This will probably allow some mushies to start pinning.

ok...took the tape off. While moving some stuff around i noticed a distinct temp difference in a bunch of the jars. I'm assembling another incubator to break up the load.

the tex have been in the chamber for 2 days....one is starting to pin. I"m going to put some moist verm on them now.

heh.
nice clear example of
why taping over the air holes is a bad idea.

thread's been merged & edited to clean it up a bit
