BTW, I've been exploring a WBS blend for parakeets that's a little more expensive but has no black sunflower seeds to strain out and contains Phalaris seeds (listed as Reed Canary Grass seed on the label). It might be a great blend for spawning bulk grows.

If the RCG seed works, that would be a cheap and easy way to get grain spawn as well. The stuff grows everywhere here!

Ok, so lame lame lame i know, no pics.

Most of my mini-tubs finished at the same time, with the exception of 2 or 3. I birthed on day 7 after spawning and that was too long. The cased subs were on time (cased at time of spawning w/ 50/50 coir verm) but the uncased were too far along and had a 1/4 inch thick layer of tometose myc on top.

Day 4 after birthing my lab assistant and I (mostly my assistant) did surgery to remove bits of wet spot on 80% of my subs. I was doubtful of a positive outcome on some of them, but many many pins developed and we got all the wet spot. The scratching where wet spot was removed helped the overdeveloped tubs knot and pin.

Anyways, got very very nice clusters, each weighing in at 70 to 150 g wet. Nice full canopy on most tubs the first flush. I like this mix, it did a bit better than with out the reed canary grass, and colonized faster.

Dunking most of the subs tonight, and can't wait to see a second flush from these bad boys. Contam so far has been limited to the crushed outbreak of wets spot. I have my fingers crossed that the dunk won't bring it back. . .

Also- two friends that ate last batch and this batch both commented to me unprompted on these being stronger. I didn't mention any difference. Same isolate was used in both runs, the difference this time being the reed canary grass. So who knows, maybe there is something to this, at least anecdotally.

Thanks for the report TR.

Looks like 'RCG' has potential.

Ok I finally got some pictures. . .

Not the best tub or clusters by far, but its what was ready when my friend stopped by with her camera. Mini tubs, micropore tape, no fanning.

Nice cluster you have there Turkey! Cambos have always been a good choice of strain IMO. Have you sampled them yet? Curious if they have any extra magic in them:amazed:

Real nice boomers there!

This looks like a lot of grass I've seen before. Is it all the same kind of grass that contains dmt? Could it be used for extraction???

Thanks everyone.

And yes Sidestreet, there are levels of DMT in this grass, just very little. Also, the alkaloid content of reed canary grass has been shown to be highly varied due to climate, shading, stress etc. Its not a very reliable source of DMT, but does contain levels of alkaloids.

Not the best tub or clusters by far...

What are you talking about, "not the best"? Those are masterful little clusters. Nearly all the fruit flushed at the same time, very few aborts from what I can see. For the amount of space and substrate used, that's a great return on time and resources! A little like my favorite, the bucket tek. Do you dunk the subs again and get multiple flushes?

Good work TR! We may switch to canary grass if our MHRB shrooms are too much...

Thanks for the kind words bozefonce! Ya I have been dunking them after a flush. Some i guess, the ones i have time for. Even the ones that I am too lazy/busy to dunk have done ok yield-wise on a return flush. Not as nice as after a dunk, but hey for doing nothing fruits are fruits. . .

I have a few larger diameter subs (colonized in cake trays) that are fruiting in actual 5 gal buckets. They are also loving life.

Viva la mini-bulk and buckets!

And coming from you rosbear, that's high praise.

EDIT: and no sign of trich yet, and we have 3rd flushes on some of the tubs! Success!
