Dear Friends:

We are writing today with good news regarding the legalization of medical
marijuana in Connecticut. House Bill 5355, which would legalize the
medical use of marijuana for seriously ill patients, passed the
Connecticut House of Representatives by a 75 - 71 vote. NORML would like
to thank all of you who took the time to write or call your
representatives in support of this important bill.

This is a truly historic vote. Last year an identical bill failed in the
House by a vote of 79 - 64. If nothing else, today's vote proves that we
are making progress in winning over elected officials on the medical
marijuana issue.

The bill will now move to the Connecticut Senate. Now more than ever your
Senators need to hear from their constituents in support of medical
marijuana. This bill has never reached the Connecticut Senate, so it is
imperative that state Senators start hearing from their constituents in
support of this bill.

Please take five minutes to send a pre-written letter to your Senator,
urging him or her to support of HB 5355 by visiting:

Thank you for your support of this important issue. With your help, we
can ensure that patients in Connecticut have safe access to medical
marijuana.

Sincerely,

Dear Friends:

I am writing today with bad news about House Bill 5355, the medical
marijuana bill in Connecticut. Despite passing the House by a 75 - 71
vote last week, the 2004 Connecticut legislative session ended yesterday
before the bill could make it through the Senate. The end of the
legislative session effectively killed HB 5355 for this year.

Despite this disappointing setback, there is much to be proud of and much
to look forward to for the future of medical marijuana in Connecticut. HB
5355 made it further in the legislative process than similar bills in
previous years, and NORML is confident that we can build on this progress
when the legislature reconvenes next year. We are optimistic that we can
finally pass a medical use bill in Connecticut next year.

NORML would like to thank all of you who took the time to write your
elected officials in support of HB 5355. Without your support, this bill
undoubtedly would not have gone as far as it did this year. We hope you
will continue to support medical marijuana and NORML’s efforts in
Connecticut over the coming years.

Thank you for your support.

I am glad to see they made some progress in Connecticut, and hope next year to hear of the bill being approved passing and put into effect. I myself send out about two or three letters a month to senators and representatives for my state and in the senate have received somewhat open-minded responses, however my local rep is the anti-christ and is waiting for hell to freeze over. I miss living where at least medical use was partially accepted. Someday the world will realize the potential of people to care for their bodies without prohibition. Thanks for posting this for comment here on the boards I remember writing a few letters in support of this bill even though I did not live in the state it was proposed in as it would surely affect other states opinion of similar legislature. "Sweet" article, Sidney.
