So I would have guessed that "trypophobia" meant fear of tryptamines. But it doesn't. It means fear of small clusters of holes.

Which I learned about thanks to the release of the stupid new iPhone. It is mega-triggering, apparently, thanks to the third camera pushing the number of holes on it over the line so as to become a reaction-inducing "cluster."

I'm not sure about the assertion that we all have it to some degree, though.

Apple's iPhone 11 Pro 'triggering' fear of holes

"We have all got it, it's just a matter of degree," Dr Cole told BBC News earlier this year.

The response to seeing small holes can be very extreme, their study suggests.

Dr Cole and Prof Wilkins reported testimonies from some people who vomited and others who said they could not go to work for several days.

"It can be quite disabling," Prof Wilkins added.

The obvious solution, of course, is to not buy a freakin' iPhone. This is merely one more reason why not to, lol.

And in other international WTF news:

French company liable after employee dies during sex on business trip

He died at a hotel during a trip to central France in 2013, as a result of what the employer called "an extramarital relationship with a perfect stranger".

The company challenged a decision by the state health insurance provider to regard the death as a workplace accident. The provider defended its position by insisting that sexual activity was normal, "just like as taking a shower or a meal".

In its ruling, the Paris appeals court upheld this view.

An employee on a business trip is entitled to social protection "over the whole time of his mission" and regardless of the circumstances, it said.

Pretty sure the tryptic-phobia-thing is rooted in arachnophobia.

Well look who's back...

And dog-spiders aren't nearly as scary, though if this little crotch-stomper ran up on you without warning late one dark night when you had a good buzz on...

Damn, now the little devil that lives on one of my shoulders is whispering that I should dress up a bunch of black pugs as spiders and turn them loose them in the neighbor's next Ayahuasca ceremony if they don't quit drumming by 11pm like they promised.

And give them all these chew toys just before turning them loose in his ceremonial yurt and chasing any escapees through the labyrinth:

It would be a night to remember. And I bet they'd never drum past 11 on a weeknight again.

And oh man, we have plenty of us up here that wish we were part of the US so it goes both ways! If it was not for weed legalization we would have diddly squat going on for us at the moment
